Built a new type of VM- Gen 2Different between G1 and G2Why gen 2?It is UEFI based which replaced BIOSOnly support Win 2012 & R2. New platform is supported. That’s mean Gen 1 is still needed for older OSWhat is great about it? Performance is still remain the same except Same performance20% faster boot up50% faster when install OSBoot fromVHDx (64TB max size, online resize)Hot add/removeSecure BootNetwork boot with IPv4 & IPv6Faster and more reliableNo emulation – reduced resources
When we go virtulization, we tend to run more VM and each VM need to be activated. Therefore, the best is to set automatic activation.MS license –Std Edition – can run 2 instance of VMData center – can run unlimited VM. So if you ‘re running Datacenter, you VM running Win 2012 will be auto activated. If you move the VM, make sure it is Data center. It will automatically activated. There is no key needed for your VM.
