14. Analysis of a Pitch – Erik’s Intro
Hello - I am Erik and I am here to teach you a bit about making pitches,
Networking, and having a clear purpose.
I work for the Town of Blacksburg. I am the Transportation Planner for Blacksburg
Transit, a department of the town.
At BT I plan new bus routes and writes grants to fund our wonderful public transit
system - and I’ve been to lots of conferences and a few planning workshops.
I enjoy networking for several reasons – mainly because it is how I have received all
my job offers, how I have received several new ideas, and because I enjoy talking to
people. My purpose today to teach three things.
First we will learn to make a personal pitch;
Second, he will review Networking;
And third, I will continually talk about having a clear purpose.
So my questions today are, “Why are you here tonight? What do you want to learn?”
Again, I am Erik Olsen and my purpose is to talk to you about making a pitch,
networking, and remembering your purpose while you are doing it.
