the Timbavati region of South Africa.

to earth as gifts
• First recorded in 1928
4. They are not albinos, having normal
pigmentation (natural colour) in the eyes
and skin. The unusual cream color of
their coats is due to a recessive gene
(passed to children from their parents only
if both parents have the gene).

hunters
• Killed by poachers
• Extinct in the wild since 1994
• In 2004 only 30 were alive
