The document discusses types of clauses, specifically independent and dependent clauses. It defines a clause as a group of words containing a subject and predicate. Independent clauses can stand alone as sentences while dependent clauses, also called subordinate clauses, cannot express a complete thought on their own and depend on the rest of the sentence. The document provides examples of different types of clauses and several practice questions for students to identify clauses.
