Parrot AR Drone
1. Parrot AR Drone
The Parrot AR Drone 2.0, is a remote controlled Quadricopter with built in HD Cameras and sensors.
Being a gadget guy, and the owner of two remote controlled helicopters, of which only one now
remains, I just had to get the Drone and try it out.
Controlled remotely by either your smartphone - iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Android 2.2 and above,
the AR.Drone establishes a personal wi-fi connection with your desired controller.
Having lots of fun with this guy, and at same time I am also using it for work related purposes, the
HD Cameras certainly come in handy and impresses clients when footage is attached to reports!
One AR.Drone, but two hulls!
The hull with four protective loops is used for indoors, whereas the other is for the outdoor
environment. Having said that, I am still using the indoor hull for outdoor use until I get more
experience, this way when I do make mistakes and have some bumps or rough landings (which takes
a lot) the propellers have the maximum protection. Make sure when you change hulls/environment
that you tweak the settings on your device so the Drones responses and behavior adjusts to the
environment.
Your Parrot AR Drone 2.0 can also be used in video games. At present there is AR.FlyingAce, AR.
Race, AR Hunter AR. Rescue! The Camera mounted on the front of the Drone detect the different
color of hulls (yellow, blue, green) to differentiate players from one another. Games can be
downloaded from the Apple App store.
