  1. TITLE SLIDE.
  2. Discussion:ResearchPoint™ software is for prospect research management and it is web-basedIt is a SAAS program, which stands for software as a service. This means you can access the software anytime, anywhere. It lives in the “cloud” , which means you can access this database from anywhere you can get an internet connection. Also, because the database is web-based, you’ll never have to load upgrades or install software. Upgrades are implemented automatically. You will also use back and forward buttons and hyperlinks to access parts of the database, just as you would an internet page.Because ResearchPoint is a prospect research management tool you are able to organize and work with large amounts of wealth screening returns, from sources that detail real estateprivate and public company information andpolitical and philanthropic donations.ResearchPoint has a tool called Find External Properties and Businesses that makes “cold prospecting” easy by allowing you to search for new contacts outside of your database, even if you only have partial name and address information available. From there, you can create a new constituent record and begin the cultivation process for qualified prospects. And finally if you have The Raiser’s Edge, the transfer of information is made easier through integration with The Raiser’s Edge
  3. (animated)For today, I’ve created an easy icon on each of your desktops that will take you straight to ResearchPoint. Go ahead and double-click on the ResearchPoint icon to open the ResearchPoint page, then wait on me before clicking on anything else. Throughout today’s lesson, we’ll be using a live ResearchPoint database. Make sure to wait on my instructions before clicking on any links or buttons. There will be many times that I encourage you to click around and explore, and I’ll let you know when those are.**Wait for students to open landing page**Does everyone’s screen look like mine now?Remember, back in your office, you’ll need to open a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, then browse to your organization’s ResearchPoint page.On the landing page here, you have access to additional materials, such as training, how-to documents, information about what’s new in the program, and quick access to our Support team through Case Central. However, we are just going to dive straight into ResearchPoint. Go ahead and click on the big Start ResearchPoint button. (click to animate)
  4. Okay, you should see this on your screen now- 0 results for his name.Since I just met Mort at the event last night, it’s no surprise that he’s not in my database yet. So, our next step is to add him so we can gather WealthPoint data on him, right? Not so fast. When I met Mort, I had a brief conversation with him about the museum we were exploring. As you know, meeting someone and saying, “What’s your home address?” is not a good idea. However, I was able to glean from our conversation that he lives in Boston. While that’s not enough information to run a strong WealthPoint search on him, it does give me just enough to look through Target Analytics’ new Prospecting Database.
  5. The Target Analytics Prospecting Database searches our database of all of the households in the United States. It is pre-matched and summarized offline, allowing the search to quickly return business and real estate information on a single record. If any of you used ResearchPoint in the past, you may remember the Prospect Quick Search. That search is now called, Find External Properties and Businesses, and it is still available to all ResearchPoint users. The Target Analytics Prospecting Database we’re using today is a compliment to the Find External Properties and Businesses search, and is included in most ResearchPoint subscription levels. It is an additional research tool, that returns comprehensive results immediately.(If asked: Essentials, Professional, Silver, Gold)NEXT SLIDE
  6. Go ahead and click on the link that says “Click here to search the Target Analytics Prospecting Database” to see what it finds.
  7. (animated)Let’s explore the results. Now, if I can have your attention for a just second- hold off on clicking Add To RP, we’ll do that together in a second. While you’re exploring, let me tell you a little more about what you’re seeing on your screen. The first thing to try is changing how the results are sorted. See the field that says Sort by: Full Name? Try changing that to the different options in that menu, and leave it on Capacity descending when you’re done exploring. That way, we’re all looking at the same view of the list. From the TA results here, you can export all records found, save your search parameters, view more details, and add to ResearchPoint. Go ahead and click on More detail. There is a wealth of knowledge available to you, before you even add him to ResearchPoint. You can also click on the real estate or business links you see listed here. Each result starts with a property he owns, listed in black. This is the address ResearchPoint will use if you decide to add him as a new record. If he owns multiple properties, up to three with the highest value will display when you look at More Details. If he owns more than 4 properties, they are still being included in his Confirmed Capacity amount, you just are seeing the top 3 in this preview. You’ll notice that he is listed once per address in the results, which is by design. This way, you can spot him based on any address that may ring a bell. It also lets you control which address becomes his primary address when you add his record. Each result here contains the same package of information, it’s just presented in a variety of ways to give you the best opportunity to identify him. Of the four on the screen here, all are correct (see how they have the same capacity), it just depends on which one I want to use to make his record. How can you figure out which one is his home address though? To me, this is where the research becomes fun, and I put on my best Nancy Drew hat. We can use the other information in the package to help us figure out which address is his home. TTake a look at his business results that display. If you click on these links, you can see more information about the different companies, and about him as an executive. Open the Boston Properties Inc, Chairman link. What do you see in the Matching Executives grid?NEXT SLIDE
  8. (animated)There’s Mort! More importantly, it tells us his home address. Now we know that we should use the 8 Arlington Street property as his home address when we add him in a minute. If you use your mouse cursor to hover over different sections, you’ll see expanded views of the information. From this single business record preview, we’ve gathered not only information about the company, but we can see his home address, his year of birth, and biography information about him and two other high-ranking executives at Boston Properties. Now we’re cooking.
  9. (animated)Now I know to use this 8 Arlington Street record when I add him. Everyone stay with me on these clicks. I’m going to walk you through the steps to add him, but we’re going to stop just shy of saving his record. Everyone click on Add to RP, then wait for me.
  10. (animated)When you add to ResearchPoint, the add new individual screen appears. This is where you can fill in the fields and add relationships if they are known. You also have the option to perform a WealthPoint search immediately, right as the record is being added.Everyone except ____ click Cancel. Since you’re all pretending to be the same user, we only need one person to actually add the record and run the search. _____ click Save. While the record is being created and the WealthPoint search is running, let’s have a quiz and win some prizes! NEXT SLIDE
