The County of Fairfax Department of Transportation is proposing several service changes to bus routes to improve schedule adherence. Proposed changes include restructuring some routes, adding additional trips during rush hour periods to reduce crowding, eliminating some low ridership segments, and making minor running time adjustments. Public comments on the proposals will be accepted until November 18, 2016. Subject to approval, the service changes would take effect on March 18, 2017.

• Most proposed service changes adjust bus
travel times and/or route alignments to improve
schedule adherence and to better address trip
needs.

• Route 321,322 - Eliminate Manchester Lakes and the
Bland Street saving running time that will be used to
improve on-time performance and expand the service
span. Adjust Route 231,232 to serve Manchester Lakes
Drive;
• Route 395 – Add three additional AM and PM weekday
rush hour service to reduce passenger crowding;
• Route 305 - Discontinue service to the Lorton VRE station
and shift southern terminus to Village Shops Drive.
Service along Silverbrook Road would continue to be
provided by Routes 371 and 373;

Circulator
• Eliminate Manchester Lakes and the Bland Street route
diversions. Alternate service to be provided by revision to
Routes 231/232 Kingstowne Circulator.
• Expand the span of service to operate late evenings and
improve headways.
• All trips after 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and 6:00 p.m. on
weekends, including the proposed new late evening
trips, would bypass the Industrial Road and Commercial
Drive area, where there is no demand for service at
these times.

Route 333 – Patriot Ridge - Saratoga
• Restructure service; reduce pattern complexity.
– Route 333 will be replaced by two new routes Route 340 (Patriot
Ridge – Saratoga) and Route 341 (Boston Boulevard –
Saratoga) that will service the current route pattern. On
Saturdays, the time between buses will be approximately every
30 minutes.
