To get a better understanding of my
audience I did a focus group form for my
class to fill out as they are within the target
audience that my product will be aimed at.
The first question I asked was if they knew
what an advertorial was, I asked this
because I need to know whether they did or
not, so that I could decide what kind of
product that I going to do for my project,
these options were advertorial or print
advertisement. If I didn’t ask this question, I
would not be able to better choose my
product as I would not know whether they
would know what my product is if I did an
advertorial as I would not know if they know
what one is. So, now that I have a better
understanding of what my audience knows
about advertorials, I can better choose the
kind of product I want to do for my project.

The next question that I asked was if they have ever
read an advertorial before. Out of the 5 responses that
I got, the answers that I received were yes and no,
unfortunately, due to the question not being a
checkbox answer, I am unable to see the percentage
of people who have read an advertorial and who have
not read an advertorial before.

From this question I understand how I can present my
magazine front cover and print advert as I now know
what makes these appealing to people who are in my
target audience. This will help me design the products
that I will be creating, for example for my magazine
front cover I could have a catchy title and a collage of
the images I have taken with the camera and a small
section about what the product is (the camera).

I asked this question again so that I could make sure
what kind of things my audience prefers to have on/in
a magazine. I now better understand that my audience
prefers to more images on/in magazines than writing,
with this information I can now decide how much
writing I am going to have on/in my magazine and how
many images I will have on/in my magazine.

likes to do during their free time, with these answers I can
use these interests and hobbies as options for my
products.
