Wrightbus International – the International arm of Wrights Group – has strengthened its presence in the Middle East
region with the opening of a permanent office at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi.
The office, which will be headed up by Wrightbus International Director – Middle East, Paul Brannigan, will provide a
springboard for the company’s business ambitions in the region. It will add further global reach for Wrightbus International,
who already have operations in India, Singapore and Hong Kong, in addition to their headquarters in Northern Ireland.
Located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa and Europe, Abu Dhabi is the capital of the UAE and one of the fastest developing

new benchmark for sustainable working and living. Masdar is recognised as the technological hub for the region and, with its
location next to Abu Airport and just 40 minutes for Dubai, provides access an enormous catchment area.

He added, “Wrights Group have had trade links with the region since the 1970s and Masdar City represents the perfect office
location for Wrightbus International as both Masdar and ourselves share the same core principles of smart technology and
continuous product innovation in the field of low carbon transportation.”
“Our office is situated alongside some of the world’s leading technology companies in in Masdar City’s clean tech cluster.
Siemens, Schneider Electric, General Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries are among more than 130 companies

“We are delighted to welcome Wrightbus International to Masdar City,” said Anthony Mallows, Director of Masdar City.
“Wrightbus brings decades of experience and a commitment to innovation and technology that compliments the vision of
Masdar City. With advancements in hybrid, low-carbon urban mobility driving urban sustainability agenda, the role of public
transport will become ever more important not just in Abu Dhabi but across the region and the world.”
The flagship UK company’s establishment in Masdar City further strengthens economic ties between the United Arab
Emirates and the United Kingdom. Commenting on the launch, Dominic Jermey, the UK ambassador to the UAE said: “I am

TESTIMONIALS
“As a small business within the Borough we
have found it invaluable in being a member of
the Chamber of Commerce. There is no
doubt that being a member of Chamber has
assisted us greatly in accessing relevant
information associated with running our
business and allowing us to become
integrated into the business community.”
Gloonan Gallery, Ahoghill
--------------------------------------------------------------
“Riada Resourcing believe membership of
Ballymena Chamber of Commerce has
played a major role in its integration into the
local business community, having opened up
its new office in Ballymena, January 2008.
Since then, it has provided our company with
numerous business and networking
opportunities, as well as allowing us to tap
into a wealth of expertise on offer amongst
our fellow members. I would highly
recommend other businesses, both large
and small, to take advantage of a thriving
Chamber which has your business interests
at heart.”
Riada Resourcing
--------------------------------------------------------------
“Since taking over the Adair Arms Hotel in
2010, the Ballymena Chamber of Commerce
has been an invaluable resource. Not only
through the proactive and topical events that
they run, but also the networking
opportunities that membership provides.”
Adair Arms Hotel
--------------------------------------------------------------
“It is a pleasure to get the opportunity to meet
other people in the business community and
share knowledge and best practices- I would
encourage other small business owners to
grasp the opportunities that involvement with
the Ballymena Chamber of Commerce
provides – commercial or simply sharing
ideas and thoughts- if you think networking is
a waste of time my message is simple –
think again.”

The flagship UK company’s establishment in Masdar City further strengthens economic ties between the United Arab
Emirates and the United Kingdom. Commenting on the launch, Dominic Jermey, the UK ambassador to the UAE said: “I am
delighted to see this outstanding UK business extending its international reach with a new base in Abu Dhabi.
Wrightbus has been at the vanguard of technological innovation since its formation in 1946 and today continues to develop
its capabilities in hybrid, flybrid and fully electric powered technology across its range of double deck, single deck and
articulated buses and Rapid Transit Vehicles.”
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister, Arlene Foster said: “The strategic decision by Wrights Group in Ballymena to open
an office in Masdar marks another significant milestone in the growth of this international firm. It follows advice and support
offered by Invest Northern Ireland’s team of inmarket experts who have been helping the company research opportunities in
the region for a number of years, in coordination with support from the NI based team. This news underlines the importance
of assisting ambitious companies, both large and small and across all industries, to grow worthwhile and, above all,
profitable sales in international markets and the value of Invest NI’s InMarket Trade Advisory Service to strengthening our
economy.”
Managing Director of Wrightbus International, Damian McGarry, said; “There is a fundamental shift to public transportation
throughout the Middle East and we see this is a long term trend as people increasingly value the ability to travel without a car,
given its direct costs and indirect costs in the form of congestion and environmental damage.”
“We plan to run a demonstration programme of our StreetLite midibus range in the coming months, following on from the
resounding success of our New Routemaster double deck bus for London, which we showcased to public acclaim, at the
Bahrain Air Show in January.”
Wrightbus International Director – Middle East, Paul Brannigan added “This is a highly significant and exciting development
for the Wrightbus International and, with the ongoing support of UKTI and Invest NI, we plan to use our new office in Masdar
as a springboard to grow our business throughout the region and beyond.”
