De OPEN oplossing 1) Een open source collectiemanagementsysteem waarbij heel wat organisaties en bedrijven kunnen samenwerken en investeren in een goed product.  Collective Access 2) Een uitbreidbare kwaliteitsvolle hosting oplossing met concurrentiële prijzen, eenvoudig in het opzetten en met een transparante kost als je collectie begint te groeien.  Cloud hosting op de (Amazon) cloud

We starten een pilootproject om de oplossing te testen 1) Testen van CollectiveAccess, open source collectiemanagementsoftware voor musea, archieven en digitale collecties. 2) We bouwen een gehoste, uitbreidbare „pay what you use“ Cloud hosting voor CollectiveAccess + geïntegreerde backup oplossing. 3) Mensen samenbrengen in een Community of Practice voor het geven van advies, helpen en testen. Het pilootproject CollectiveAccess en Cloud Computing loopt in 2009, 2010 en 2011.

Oorspronkelijke missie van het project 7/11/2008 “ FARO speelt met het idee om samen met enkele partners (erfgoedcel, museum...) een pilootproject (test) op te starten waarbij we CollectiveAccess, een open-sourcecollectiebeheerpakket voor musea, archieven en digitale collecties gaan opzetten op een cloudhosting infrastructuur. Door het gebruik van Open-Source technologie zijn organisaties minder afhankelijk van software waar bedrijven eigenaar van zijn. CollectiveAccess is uitgebracht onder de GPL licentie. De cloudhosting infrastructuur voor de storage & hosting kan een cost-efficiënte manier zijn om collecties op lange termijn beschikbaar te houden. 9. CollectiveAccess is … “Is een web gebaseerde software om een collectie van een musea of een archief te catalogiseren, te beheren en te publiceren.“ Catalogiseer op maat van uw organisatie en op basis van standaarden (Dublin Core, PBCOre, Spectrum …). Start op basis van bestaande installatieprofielen. Werkt samen met andere systemen (A.A.T.(Getty), Library of congres, Google maps, GeoNames, Fedora repository. Connected via Drupal (SOAP), uitwisselen via OAI-PMH, Spreekt meerdere talen Kan overweg met film, beelden, audio, documenten en boeken. Is open-source software ontwikkeld door Whirl-i-Gig (New York) met een actieve community en op basis van open populaire technologieën zoals php (zend framework), mysql en apache.

De CollectiveAccess familie (in ontwikkeling) Pawtucket is a public-access module providing a friendly web-based search and browse interface to collections data, as well as interactive functionality such as user tagging, commenting, rating and user-generated slideshows. You can use Pawtucket to easily make any sub-set of your collections data publicly available on the web. Woonsocket is a native iPhone application that enables mobile users to search and browse collections data from any participating CollectiveAccess-based data provider. It is essentially an iPhone-native implementation of Pawtucket functionality. Since Woonsocket is open-source you can use the code as the basis of your own custom mobile search application. Tiverton is a simple front-end for displaying CollectiveAccess data in a map-centered user interface.
