Fiorentini and Baker Kids’ Footwear Collection
1. Fiorentini and Baker Kids’ Footwear Collection
The Fiorentini and Baker brand is the creative collaboration of one of Bologna, Italy’s
most highly regarded interior designer, Gianpaolo Fiorentini, and a shoe designer
with one of London’s finest exports, Deborah Baker. The fusion of these diverse
creative backgrounds has resulted in a range of classic timeless shoe designs for both
men and women.
The philosophy of Fiorentini and Baker is simple: to create beautiful shoes. Using
high class materials like supple leather, soft suede and original vintage fabrics, their
designs reflect the graceful and undeniably romantic influences of cinematic legends
such as Betty Davis and Julie Christie. Effortlessly wearable and exceptionally
durable, these hand-crafted men’s and women’s shoes are created by artisans using
traditional techniques that ensure these unique shoes grow old as gracefully as the
stars that inspired them.
Fiorentini and Baker has become the go-to boot brand for tough-chic dressers in the
know. And to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary, the footwear company is
launching an adorable junior’s capsule collection.
The school age set will be able to add that signature F + B edge to their shoe closets
thanks to a selection of five shrunken-down styles, which will retail for US$380 to
US$500 a pair.
“Many of our clients wanted shoes for their children so we decided to make a range
for kids in our classic styles,” Deborah Baker, the brand’s founder and designer said
about the new footwear line. “We have a big Hollywood following, so my guess is that
we may see some mini actors and actresses in them.”
2. With celebrity fans including Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry, and Sandra Bullock, one
would think that Fiorentini and Baker is clamoring to get Apple, Moses, Nahla,
and Louis in its boots.
But Baker, who says her twenty something daughter steals her shoes, isn’t limiting
herself to the brand’s starry clientele. “I’m more interested in seeing everyday people
wearing my shoes regardless of status or generation,” she said. “The boots and shoes
work for so many different styles and personalities.”
While the main collection is sold at Barneys, Bloomingdale’s, and other fashion
boutiques worldwide, the kids’ collection will be available exclusively in Fiorentini
and Baker’s New York flagship store beginning in October.
