Safety Alert Symbol and Headline Notations
In this manual, the following safety alert symbol and
signal words are used to alert the reader to the potential
for personal injury or machine damage.
dThis is the safety alert symbol. When you see this
symbol, be alert to the potential for personal injury.
Never fail to follow the safety instructions prescribed
along with the safety alert symbol.
The safety alert symbol is also used to draw attention to
component/part weights.
To avoid injury and damage, be sure to use appropriate
lifting techniques and equipment when lifting heavy
parts.
dCAUTION:
Indicated potentially hazardous situation which could, if
not avoided, result in personal injury or death.
IMPORTANT:
Indicates a situation which, if not conformed to the
instructions, could result in damage to the machine.
fNOTE:
Indicates supplementary technical information.

Variable Geometry Turbo
Variable turbo controller. VGS is an exhaust turbo charged
system to supercharge the exhaust energy while running
the engine at slow idle speed. VGS optimizes the turbine
rotation, improves the performance at slow-speed torque
and the acceleration, reduces fuel consumption, and reduces
particulate matter (PM) by adjusting the nozzle opening of
turbine housing.
HST
Controller
Hydrostatic Transmission Controller Hydrostatic transmission controller. HST controller control
transmission, HST pump and HST motor 1, 2 according to the
machine operating condition.

Name Explanation
SCR Selective Catalytic Reduction SCR technology is designed to permit NOx reduction
reactions to take place in an oxidizing atmosphere. It is
called "selective" because it reduces levels of NOx using
ammonia as a reductant within a catalyst system (see DEF).
DEF Diesel Exhaust Fluid DEF is a fluid that can have a slight ammonia smell, used
with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to convert
NOx into nitrogen, small amount of CO2
and water. DEF is
also commonly referred to as AdBlue™. The concentration is
32.5 %, which is specified in ISO22241.
DOC Diesel Oxidation Catalyst Oxidation catalyst for the diesel engine. Diesel oxidation
catalyst oxidizes unburned fuel and raises exhaust
temperature.
PM Particulate Matter Particulate matter (PM) is a regulated diesel emission
composed primarily of carbon soot and other combustion
by-products.
NOx Nitrogen Oxide Oxides of nitrogen are a regulated gaseous emission which
is a collective term for emissions composed of nitrogen
and oxygen, which form when fuel is burned at high
temperatures.
HRV Hose Rupture Valve Hose rupture (or burst, brake) valve to prevent the
uncontrolled descent of a load in the event of a hose failure.
LLC Long Life Coolant A long life or extended life type of engine coolant.
EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation The EGR control re-circulates a part of exhaust gas in the
intake manifold and combines it with intake-air. Therefore,
combustion temperature is lowered and generation of
nitrogen oxides (NOx) is controlled.
