This disorder involves the endometrium, the lining
inside the uterus that regenerates monthly, and is
shed and bleeds during the menstrual cycle.
Sometimes endometrial cells grow outside the uterus,
on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, or other tissues of the
pelvis. This out-of-place tissue causes pain when it
sheds and bleeds in response to the menstrual cycle.

3. Endometriosis
 Factors that increase the risk of having endometriosis
are not well understood. Women who began having
periods early in life are at risk, as are those
experiencing menstruation longer than 7 days or
menstrual cycles shorter than 27 days. In addition,
having menopause later than usual and the presence
of higher-than-usual levels of estrogen could be
related. Such conditions as an abnormal uterus or
blockages of the usual menstrual discharge also may
raise the chances.
The condition may have a genetic link, thus presence
of endometriosis in sisters, mothers, or aunts could
increase risk. Researchers also have identified a low
body mass index as a possible risk factor.
