2. “OUR TRIP TO SWEDEN”
Thursday 3rd May, 2018
After spending the whole afternoon packing our things, we finally were on our way to
Sweden. At first we were all anxious, but then tiredness beat us. After a long flight
that seemed everlasting, we arrived to Sweden. Personally, I expected colder
temperatures but having better ones lit up everyone's mood. Then, Matilda and I met
again and we both went into her Dance Class. When it ended, her mom drove us
home. That afternoon I tasted the famous “Swedish Meatballs” that were delicious. I
“landed” safely on my new bed and I slept right until sun woke me up. I was sure it
was 7.30 am until I took a look at my watch and it was 4.30 am. No curtains in
Sweden neither.
Friday 4th May, 2018
After sharing a nice breakfast with Matilda's family, we took a bus to Tibble
Gymnasium to work on the CHARM project. Talking with my friends, I realized I
wasn't the only one who had woken up before planned.
The school was amazing and really nice. None of us would mind spending there
some more time. Both principal and teachers were really nice and welcoming, so we
felt really comfortable. Then, after eating, we went to the town hall under pouring
water. One of the councilors, who were the mother of one of the long exchange
participants, talked to us about Täby and its future as well as its development
through years. Then we had a nice afternoon at Frida's, one of the exchange
participants.
Saturday 5th May, 2018
This day we visited the wonderful city of Stockholm. It was amazingly beautiful and
different. It mixed the old European cities style with new commercial areas. We had
lunch in an Asian buffet that was truly nice. I loved this city and we all learn a bit
more about this city thanks to a very nice tourist guide who was wearing old Victorian
clothes and was actually funny. Walking on the old city centre, we explored souvenir
shops and old buildings as the German Park, one of my favorite places. Our
teachers went back to Täby and they wished us a nice Sunday. That night, we had a
barbeque at Vaxholm Island, an amazing place where we had an amazing evening.
Sunday 6th May, 2018
I would lie if I say this wasn't my favourite day. After working up really early, we took
a bus to Stockholm. Once there, we met some exchange mates to have lunch at
Oaxen together and the go into Gröna Lund, one of the biggest amusement parks of
Europe. We rode some barracks and after waiting for hours, we enjoyed
Macklemore’s live performance right in front of our eyes. It was undoubtedly an
amazing day.
3. For me, as many of my mates, this exchange was a remarkable part of the school year. I
always wanted to visit this country since it's known by its landscapes and amazing views. I
guess this time I wasn't as nervous as I was when I traveled to Germany, but the truth is that
flights scared me a bit. Eventually, it was a wonderful time with fantastic people and also a
big chance to challenge myself.
For the Spanish participants, it was a chance to visit a country which its culture is completely
different from our at the same time we worked about school issues and ways to solve them. I
felt really happy to have such an amazing host family, who made me feel really comfortable
since the first moment. I had already some experience with exchanges but this was one of
the best so far. I enjoy every single moment and I felt part of the group, which improved our
results.
For them, it was a nice choice to learn about one of the most visited countries of the world
and get into Spanish lifestyle, way different from the Swedish one, as a way to understand
how sometimes even the littlest misunderstandings have a good explanation.
For all of us, this exchange was an unforgettable experience that made us realize, by
working together, that even though we are all different, we have some things that unite all of
us as European citizens.

we took plane and returned home.
Opinion:
This trip was an amazing experience in which I could practise a language, but this wasn´t all. I
could learnt another form of life I met now people with another culture. This was an
experience I couldn’t learn in books.
The only thing I would exchange it is the date of the travel.
6. Monday 7th May, 2018
Knowing it was our last day, we were a bit sad. The experience was amazing so far
and we didn't want to leave. We went to Tibble to work on the CHARM project. We
all were really concious of the importance of maintaining a good schoolar
environment to make our schools a better place. We work in mixed groups and I was
amazed of the amount of ideas we all had. In the end, we did multilingual posters
with supportive messages to make ones feel less alone and others more aware of
the situation of some students who unfortunately have it harder when making friends
or opening themselves to others. I think this part wasn't only another part of the
project, it also helped us to understand how school issues affect either Spanish and
Swedish educational systems in different and same ways. Then we recorded
ourselves as a final project, which apart from its importance, it had some hilarious
parts when we weren't able to contain our laughs. After spending the afternoon at
Täby Centrum buying some gifts for our families, we all went home to pack our
things and sleep well to wake up early on our very last day.
Tuesday 8th May, 2018
That morning I said goodbye to my host family who were the best I could have
imagined and then Matilda’s mom drove us to school. We attended to Spanish
lessons to teach Swedish students some Spanish by playing some games. We
attended P.E and Math, to witness how educational system works in Sweden, a
system that had nothing to do with our. Then we picked up our things with tears in
our eyes and we arrived at the airport. We had a long way home yet.
I would lie if I say I didn't want to be back in Lugo since I missed my father and
siblings a lot but I was also sure I would miss Matilda and Sweden a lot since we had
an amazing time together. I won't forget that time and I hope we all met again
someday.

We did some activities in the high school and visited some lessons too, to know how
the educational system is there.
Tuesday 8:
We just returned home.
12. My experience in Sweden
I think it has been one of the best experiences in my life. I have never lived abroad
without my family, and more than that, living with a family I didn't know and which
was different than mine because of the culture, the country...
It showed me how the life in Sweden is and how the educational system works. I
found some differences in both cases.
In relation with everyday life, they make more life in their homes, in the high school
or in the shopping mall, and we instead make more life outside, in cafeterias, parks...
Moreover, they are colder than us, I mean in the relationships. They just relate with
friends or in the restaurants for example they don´t have a conversation with the
waiter or waitress.
Related with their educational system I thought their high school have more facilities
than ours, they have a gym, a swimming pool, lockers, a restaurant where they eat
everyday, a theatre... and their lessons are so different, we only went to two more or
less, but we could see that they are more practical, teachers let students go if they
don´t want to stay there or just if they prefer to do exercises in other place, the
students can use their phones and they also use their laptops for the lessons.
13. FIRST DAY
This day we met our exchanges partners and their families, after arriving
at Arlanda.
When we arrived home we met our neighbour and then I had dinner with
the whole family and we talked about ourselves for a while to know each
other better.
SECOND DAY
We got up early and we take the public transport to go to highschool
(sometimes we went by scooter half of the way) because Julia, my
Swedish partner, lives on an island, she doesn’t live at TÄby.
We visited the school and we went to a Spanish class where we played
the role of teachers of Galician and Spanish.
Before lunch, our Swedish partners made a presentation about their
country for us.
At the afternoon we went to visit the island by walk (and I can say that I
prefer the island, Vaxholm, than TÄby).
THIRD DAY
We visited “Cosmonova Big Dream” (a science museum) and Skansen
(the zoo).
During the evening we went to a Swedish girl’s house and we tasted
cinnamon rolls.
Then I went with Julia, Paula C. and Felicia (Paula’s partner) to a horse
stable. Because Julia rides twice a week.
At night we watched a Spanish movie.
FOURTH DAY
We visited the VASSA MUSEUM and we walk around the old town of
Stockholm.
At afternoon we made a barbecue together. It was great.
FIFTH DAY
14. We went to an theme park at Stockholm by ferry and before go inside
the park we went shopping and for have lunch.
At the theme park I had a lot of fun with my Spanish partners (the
Swedish ones were saving place for the Macklemore’s concert that
would start a few hours later.)
SIXTH DAY
We spent all morning at school making the project and we had lunch
there. We usually went to the mall next to the school.
In the evening I went with my family and Paula’s family to have dinner at
a restaurant in the island.
LAST DAY
We spent the morning at the shopping centre and I went with Ana to gym
class.
Then we had to say bye very quickly and go to the airport to come back
to our country.
The travel was…
For me this exchange had been amazing because now I am able to say
that I know a lot of Swedish culture and we had the chance to visit new
places and do a lot of different activities. And of course we learned about
cooperation, social skills and communication in English that is the most
important.
