Alfred Fuhr was born in 1960 in Giessen, Germany. He attended primary and secondary school there before receiving his Abitur in 1979. In 1990, he earned an M.A. in Sociology, History, and Psychology. Since 1999 he has founded and run the AvD Institute for Traffic Sociology, providing sociological consulting services related to mobility, transportation, technology, and customer behavior. He has also held various positions in public relations, media, publishing, and event management.
