----------------------------------------------------------------------ODI vs OWB Roadmaphttp://my.oracle.com/portal/page/myo/lang-en/ver-1/79432B22E652B4D3E040018AEAA3496BOne good slide to show ODI is the mainstream, but seems internal----------------------------------------------------------------------ODI Customer References: http://www.oracle.com/customers/products/data-integration.html---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Oracle's strategic direction in the data integration tool is ODI.ODI 10.1.3 premier support will end at the end of Dec 2010, but Oracle will continue releasing newer version of ODI, and newer versions of ODI after 11g will continue to be enhanced along with other Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g products.Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) 11g has become part of Oracle Database EE/SE/SE One & Oracle BI SE/SE One, so the OWB 11g support synchronizes with DB 11g (premier support for 11.2 will end in Jan 2015).However OWB 10.1 premier support ended in July 2007, so if you are still using OWB 10.1, I strongly recommend you to upgrade to 11g.OWB will continue to be enhanced along with other DB/BI features, but customers should look into building new BI framework using ODI and migrate gradually to ODI in the long term.ODI & OWB support details & roadmaps:Oracle Lifetime Support: http://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support-policy.html DB support details are in Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products ODI support details are in Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Fusion Middleware ProductsOWB 11g OTN site: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/index.html-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Data Integration Statement of Direction: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle-data-integrator/sod.pdf (including the ODI roadmap)Today Oracle includes Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) and Oracle WarehouseBuilder (OWB) as the two components of ODI-EE and will merge them into asingle unified data integration technology platform. This strategy fully preservesany existing development investments of all Oracle data integration customers andwill provide a seamless, easy upgrade path from the current components to theunified platform and beyond.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------OWB Roadmap: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/pdf/owb_roadmap.pdfShort Term StrategyOracle purchased Sunopsis in October 2006 and re-branded it as Oracle DataIntegrator (ODI). ODI’s mission is to enhance the Oracle Fusion Middlewareofferings, which require broad support to heterogeneous sources and targets.Warehouse Builder’s mission continues to be to provide comprehensive ETLfunctionality for BI/DW implementations on Oracle Databases.Today, ODI and OWB are released separately. For the short term, both products willcontinue to deliver stand-alone releases.Although released independently, both products are currently being developed witha common goal of integrating with each other and, ultimately, merging into a singleproduct. For example, OWB 11.2 now supports the knowledge module frameworkdeveloped by ODI. And in future releases, both products will share the same userinterface framework and will be able to launch each other processes.Long Term DirectionOracle is committed to protect the investments customers have made in both OracleWarehouse Builder and Oracle Data Integrator. In a future release, Oracle willdeliver a unified data integration product that protects customer investments in bothproducts.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Oracle ESB to OSB Migration Hereby a DRAFT version on how to migrate from Oracle Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) to Oracle Service Bus (OSB).Source Group: OracleWeb Path: ROOTCORNER/KNOWLEDGEAREAS1/KN...854/EMEA/RESEARCH_RESOURCES/ESBAuthor: Marc Keldermanmy.oracle.com/portal/page/myo/lang-en/ver-1/5FBDDDBB2165B1DBE040018AEEA33726 - 132 KB - Jan 5, 2009 - Linkshttp://myforums.oracle.com/jive3/servlet/JiveServlet/download/3150-296889-3979275-9032089/Oracle_ESB_OSB_Migration.doc----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ANNO: Migration Document ESB -> OSB Source Group: OracleWeb Path: SOA/SOA (integration_ww@oracle.com)myforums.oracle.com/jive3/thread.jspa?threadID=296889#3979275&lang=en - 1 Bytes - Dec 4, 2008 - LinksUseful Doc!: http://myforums.oracle.com/jive3/servlet/JiveServlet/download/3150-296889-3979275-9032089/Oracle_ESB_OSB_Migration.docOSB Upgrade GuideWhat is the upgrade path from Oracle ESB (OESB) 10g to Mediator 11g?The upgrade path for Oracle Enterprise Service Bus users from 10g to 11g is fully automated. Oracle Enterprise Service Bus users simply open 10g ESB routing rules in JDeveloper 11g. At this point, JDeveloper converts them to Mediator components that can be deployed to the 11g service infrastructure. All adapter configurations, XLST transformation and routing rules are preserved. What is the migration path from Oracle ESB (OESB) to Oracle Service Bus (formerly ALSB)?First, we need to emphasize that there is no requirement for Oracle ESB customers to migrate to Oracle Service Bus: they already have a fully automated path to the 11g platform. If their mediation needs are fulfilled by Oracle ESB there is no reason to jump to Oracle Service Bus (formerly ALSB).The only time we would recommend a customer to migrate from Oracle ESB to Oracle Service Bus is when they have a concrete and validated need for features available in Oracle Service Bus and not in Oracle ESB. Among these are advanced operations control features such as throttling, higher web-services mediation performance, full web console authoring or "Java on the bus". Please contact Product Management if you have a customer in such situation. There is no automated tooling to help in migrating from Oracle ESB to Oracle Service Bus - our efforts are going towards ensuring that both communities have a seamless upgrade path to 11g. However, there have been various ongoing efforts in the field to start putting together best practices around such migration. See for instance Marc Kelderman'sblog post on OESB to OSB migration.http://orasoa.blogspot.com/2008/12/oracle-service-bus-migration-esb-to-osb.html Best practice document for migrating OESB artifacts to OSB can be found here - http://aseng-wiki.us.oracle.com/asengwiki/display/ASDevESB/OESB+to+OSB+migration+best+practices ---------------------------------------------------------OSB and ESB Converge for ESB, what does ... to implement OSB? 3.
