Prerequisite: Students must be able to
define what a noun is.
Objectives

By the end of this learning object, the
students must confidently differentiate
the types of nouns namely: Common or
Proper, Abstract or Concrete, Mass or
Count
Definition of Terms

Nouns
- words that name a person, place, animal,
thing or event.
NOUNS
Common and Proper nouns

Common Nouns
-names any type of
noun
                     I LIKE ICE
                     CREAM! It's so
ex.)                 yummy! Ice
                     Cream is a
                     common noun. :)
Common and Proper nouns (cont.)

Proper Nouns
-names a specific person, place or thing.


ex.)


                         "I DON'T LIKE
                         PEACH MANGO
                           PIE, YAYA!"
Abstract and Concrete Nouns

Abstract nouns
-Abstract nouns are nouns that you cannot
see, hear, feel, touch, smell or taste.
ex.) love, peace, happiness, etc.

           "I wanna know
          what LOVE is, I
          want you to show
               me..."
Abstract and Concrete Nouns

Concrete Nouns
- nouns that you can touch, see, hear, feel,
smell or taste.
ex.)                     "Teacher Reg, I
                           want a teddy
                              bear!" :)
Mass nouns and Count Nouns

Mass Noun
-nouns that we cannot count. They have no
plural form.
                                Can I count
                                 sand? Oh,
ex.) Sand, hair,                right. It's a
milk, rice, powder,              mass noun,
                                  I can't :(
etc.
Count Nouns

Count Nouns
- are nouns that we can count. They can be
singular or plural.
ex.) one marble, three blind mice, two
pieces of bread, four girls

  Lola has five fingers
   on one hand. She's
     just like me :)
