11. NOTE: Headsets are not loaned. They are given to faculty (one time only) in selected workshops which involve aural/oral participation

12. NOTE: CETL does not loan power cords, USB cables, mice, mouse pads, power strips or extension cords.

13. Special equipment (Ipad, Ipod Touch, Wii Console and Balance Boards) have been purchased by CETL to fulfill classroom initiatives proposed by faculty. These faculty members have contracted with CETL to revise courses using this equipment/technology.

14. In this case, the equipment may be on loan for a longer period of time. This will be decided by CETL and the faculty member and documented on the loan form.

15. This equipment is the property of CETL, on loan to the department and designated faculty member, for the period stated on the loan form and must be returned to CETL at the end of the semester. If the initiative is to be repeated in the summer or fall, the equipment can be renewed, upon returning it first. The equipment loan must be done in the same manner as all other faculty equipment loans from CETL; a loan form must be completed and signed by a CETL faculty person only (Galvis, Anderson, or Chesley).

16. When the equipment for these initiatives is returned, it should be delivered BY YOU directly, to either Dr. Galvis, Anderson or Chesley on a Thursday between 1:30 and 3:00pm. It is best to notify us by email that you are on your way so we can assure you that we will be here. (Occasionally, all of us are in another building on campus, offering a workshop.) Equipment is NOT to be left with anyone else in the CETL office.

17. In some cases, we may have purchased one or two extra items in the category (special classroom initiatives) described above (Ipod Touch, Ipads, etc). In that case, those pieces can be loaned to faculty who also propose in writing how they plan to use it. This can include borrowing it, simply to learn/practice use in your teaching.

18. CETL does not loan laptops. CETL laptops must remain in house so that they are available for use by CETL workshop participants. Laptop loans to faculty are done via Richard Edward’s office (Video and Classroom Services/Anderson Center) at x2684.

19. CETL loans equipment to faculty for classroom and professional use only. This means that CETL equipment should be here on campus (locked securely when not in use) or brought back and forth daily during the period of the loan, since it is for classroom use. Having it here, allows CETL to come and get it for a brief time during your loan period, if needed for a training session.

20. CETL equipment/technology will be on loan to you for a period of not longer than 2 weeks. The equipment must be returned at the end of the 2 weeks, and can be borrowed for an additional 2 weeks. This makes it possible for more faculty to use the equipment in our inventory.

21. Each type of equipment borrowed constitutes a separate loan request form. Therefore, if you are borrowing 3 different types of equipment at the same time, you will sign 3 separate forms and get authorization for each.

22. Authorization for borrowing CETL equipment/technology is given by Drs. Galvis, Anderson, or Chesley ONLY.

23. You must come in person to borrow CETL equipment. We will not send the equipment to you by someone else. You must be here to sign your own name on the loan form.

24. CETL equipment should be returned on the designated Thursday (2 weeks) that is marked on your form, during the hours stated, 1:30-3:00pm

25. Either Dr. Galvis, Anderson or Chesley will be available on Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:00 pm to check equipment out and check it in. This is the only day we will handle this operation, so please exercise good planning so that you have what you need in time for your class. We will not be able to stop what we are working on, at various times through the day, to do equipment loans. With regard to checking equipment out, you should email any of us, first, to see if that equipment is available before coming to the center (CETL). We will return an answer to you that day.

26. Faculty who do not return equipment/technology on time will be notified ONCE by personal email before your Department Chair is asked to remind you of your loan agreement with CETL.Print resources<br />CETL has a selected collection of printed materials borrowed from the Library or donated/collected by CETL staff. These materials support improved teaching, understanding the higher education environment, preparing for promotion and tenure, publishing your scholarship, effective classroom management, and other topics. CETL also subscribes to current issues of teaching and research journals.<br />We currently have copies to give faculty (one per person) of The Academic Portfolio by Seldin and Miller (2009). This book provides very useful information on organizing your professional dossier. It is given to tenure track faculty who request it.<br />Finally, there are available copies of the Facilitating Online Learning book by Collison, et.al. (2001). It addresses critical thinking in the classroom, and helps you facilitate learning processes from the side. Copies are given to participants in online learning production processes.<br />
