Pipe is thread on each end only, no other work is done on the pipe
The bigger the bore – the slower the spindle RPM
Small diameter pipe machined on large bore machines is very inefficient

Special Device or Carbide Boring Bars can have lengths up to
10 x the diameter

10. POINTS TO WATCH FOR WHEN SELLING A CNC OR MANUAL BIG BORE LATHE
Make sure the spindle bore is large enough for the part
Nominal pipe sizes vary in diameter
6” pipe might not fit in a 6” spindle bore
Make sure the Steady Rest is large enough to support the part
Our 24” steady rest is 600mm (23.64”)
Manual Lathes don’t come with tool holding
T-Slotted, Dorian, Quick-Change Wedge
GTD-30 comes with a 4-way tool post, not a T-Slot
