process of improving a website so as to increase its
‘organic’ (non-paid) ranking on search engines ,
thereby more people visit your website and hence
increase in sales and website traffic.

How does Search Engines work?
•Most search engines use software programs called spiders (also referred
to as crawlers, robots, or bots). The spiders roam the web to search the
content and index them in their databases.eg- Googlebot, Yahoo
Slurp, and MSNbot and similar spiders. Spiders (or crawlers, or
bots) are the means through which search engines download the
content that is on your website's pages
•In search engine databases, Web pages are indexed on criteria
such as keyword occurrence and link popularity

 Avoid spider hostile features (Frames, Flash

in metatag, use tiny text.
