Based on the liquids to be pumped and the ratio slope-flow we will work with, we must select the most appropriate
type of pump. In Genergy, we have several variations and powers covering the vast majority of market needs.
Portable: Its main feature is its reduced size and weight, allowing it to be easily transported and handled by one
person. Ideal for small gardens irrigation, filling of tanks, emptying small pools or ponds, cleaning concrete mixers,
and in general any transfer requiring a low flow rate and pressure.
Flow : The turbine has been designed to enhance its water flow at the expense of its pressure. Its flow performance
to level is simply outstanding, making it ideal for surface irrigation, emptying pools, or any other type of transfer
without significant slopes.
Usually from 15-20 meters of slope the ratio flow/ height begins to lose efficiency so it would be more advisable
to use a pressure pump.
Pressure: Its turbine has been designed to offer a higher pressure at the expense of displaced water flow. The
best option when we must to overcome significant slopes, or in applications where the removal of water requires a
significant output pressure (sprinkler, filtration...)
Trash water: The space between the turbine and the volute has been overdimensioned to allow solids up to 25mm
diameter pass If the pump jams, these can be easily solved thanks to the rapid and complete opening of the pump,
and without tools. Ideal to drainage in floodings, transfers or irrigation of dirty water.
Salt water or chemicals: Body, volute and turbine have been manufactured in polypropylene replacing classic
metals. It can be used with salt water or low level of aggressiveness chemicals, such as fertilizers. It’s not valid for
transferring oils, fuels, high aggressiveness corrosives and high viscosity liquids or with high levels of adherence.

It is critical to understand and to determine the maximum
height we want to raise the water to later know the flow or
caudal of water we will obtain. The greater the height to be
raised, the lower the flow, so it is essential to measure this
slope in the field accurately.
Aspiration or suction height: is the slope between the liquid
to aspire and centrifugal shaft of the pump.
NOTE: by natural laws a surface pump could aspire to at most
about 10 meters deep. But for this, it would be needed to
achieve an absolute vacuum which in any case is achieved
in this type of equipment. The maximum recommended by
Genergy is between 5 and 7 meters; trying to install the pump
at the nearest point of the water to be pumped always. Keep
in mind that the lower the level of aspiration, the greater pump
efficiency and also a lower suction time*.
NOTE: It is essential to use non-deformable aspiration hose to
prevent obstruction by depression, which could cause serious
damage to the pump.
motobomba.
Total height: it is the sum of the suction and discharge height.
*Suction time: Genergy has foot valves to prevent the return of water in the suction line. This fixture is
highly recommended even in self-suction pumps to eliminate the aspiration time and makes it easier.
If using the foot valve, it would not be needed to use the non-return valve of the pump, this way we
can fill both, the aspiration line and the pump itself through the priming hole.

Another factor when making our selection is the loss of flow due to friction. This loss is mainly generated by the number of meters of hose or
tubing, but also by the passage of water through bends, valves, reductions, or any other element of the installation which may cause delays

Pérdida línea
El rozamiento del líquido con las
paredes de la manguera o tubería
genera una pérdida de caudal. En tra-
mos pequeños puede ser casi inapre-
ciable, pero en tramos de grandes
distancias las pérdidas comienzan a
ser notables, especialmente si la línea
tiene un interior rugoso o anillado.
Recomendamos el uso de mangueras
interiormente lisas.
Line loss
The friction of the liquid with the walls
of the hose or tubing generates a
flow loss. In small sections it can be
almost negligible, but in large dis-
tances losses begin to be noticeable,
especially if the line has a rough or
ringed interior.
We recommend using internally
smooth hoses.
Paso por válvula
Generalmente los pasos por válvula
tienen una superficie de “paso”
inferior a la que trae la línea. Este
paso además tiene formas interiores
irregulares y angulosas lo cual au-
menta la retención. Recomendamos
instalar el menor número de válvulas
posible en la instalación.
Passing by the valve
Valve pass generally have a lower
surface “passage” built in the line.
This pass also has irregular and an-
gular interior forms which increases
retention. We recommend installing a
less possible number of valves in the
installation.
mayor radio posible.
Elbows or curves losses
Each turn of the line generates reten-
tion. The smaller the rotation radius,
the greater the retention.
We recommend the less possible
use of curves and these will have the
largest possible radius.
Total friction loss
It is expressed in linear meters and is the result of adding the
friction loss of the hydraulic line (either hose of pipe) + all the
accessories installed in it.
2”1 1/2”
Reducciones de sección
La reducción de la sección va a
suponer una reducción del caudal.
Solo es recomendable reducir una
línea en algunas circunstancias
como la división o partición de líneas
siempre que hayan sido correctamen-
te estudiadas.
Section reductions
Section reductions will result in flow
reduction. It’s recommendable to
reduce a line in certain circumstances
as division or partition of lines when
they have been properly studied.

The detailed formula and the conversion factor have been made considering the original section diameters and the estimated flow and flow rates. The actual reason of this factor is none other than to facilitate the calculation to our clients. The results are nonetheless an approxi-
mation to reality. In any case if you want to make a more accurate study you can consult to engineering, because there are more complex formulas to determine more precisely this type of calculations.
