It is quite acceptable for a normal human being to be afraid. At least that is what I have grown to
understand. Fear is something of a check that guides us from going beyond what we are use to
although it might not be the case for everybody. At the same time, people who have been able to
overcome their fears brought breakthroughs in their lives as well as the life of other people
through their ability to overcome what they were afraid most.
The lesson I have leant from the little I know about fear is that, if you wait until the fear is gone,
the opportunity will have already passed. At the moment fear overcomes you in a situation, you
become ‘caged’ in your own mindset where you most of the times feel it is and will be
impossible to do something that you are afraid of.
The power of overcoming fear just like any other power given to every human being is a battle of
the mind first and then it can physically be acted upon. If you want to wait until you are sure you
will get it perfect, you will never start it. The more you wait, the more so many opportunities will
pass you by.
In dealing with fear, it all begins with intention. The master plan to face your fears is when you
have made a personal decision to face it no matter the consequence. In such a situation, the best
questions you can pose to yourself and answer candidly is what could be the worse scenario if I
should do this or not do that? The time to act is when you have the intention. The time to act on
your fear attitude is as soon as you feel the urge rise in you to make a difference not for yourself
alone but for others whose life might depend on your decision.
The important note is that if you hesitate, you will begin to talk yourself out of it. When you give
in to doubt, doubt will seize the momentum and remind you of all the things that are not true. It
is understandable that fear can be good. So let the fear be an informer and a preparer to inform
you and prepare you for is to come, but do not assume that it must stop you. Like the pain that
reminds you that part of your body might not be functioning well and therefore there might be a
need to visit a physician or a doctor, the same is what fear should do for you and not stop you.
Be reminded that whatever you doubt you can do is precisely what you must find a way to do.
Breakthrough in life begins when you choose to transform each excuse for holding back into
permission to step forward and make it happen. Tell yourself again and again that you can handle
the ambiguity and the challenges, and can in fact thrive on them. Like the tie chi principle, you
need not use your own energy but the energy of your opponent can be used again them. The
moment you decide to get something done, go ahead right then and just start it. Decide to
commit yourself, and you will be known for what you did. Go ahead, just start and success will
be yours.
