The Kids Cafe program established by the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County in 2000 provides after-school snacks and summertime meals to children at risk of going hungry in 43 locations throughout the county. Through partnerships with organizations like the Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Clubs, the Kids Cafe program serves as a safe space for children to receive nutritious food and participate in educational activities while school is out of session. The Kids Cafe at the Salvation Army's Anaheim Red Shield Family Center alone feeds up to 50 children daily in the summer and over 120 children per day during the school year.
