THE COUNTRY SHOP
The Country Shop Pub derives from a time in small rural communities where the
shopkeeper would double as a publican.
A side of the shop would be given over to the pub furnished with trestle tables and
stools. The over all look would be rustic, rough and ready.
Decoration would be provided by the open roof beams and the white washed walls and of
course the open fireplace.
The colour would be supplied by the groceries, stacked to the ceiling all about the
premises.
Pictured is "the Keg" in Hamilton in Canada. A stunning Example of originality,
eclectically designed yet with a continuity of theme.
The style consists of old counters and display cabinets, in which old shop bricabrac can
be displayed. This if done properly, can become an integral part of the theme of the
country shop pub. Setting up continuity and a sense of originality.
