- The European starch industry is an important agri-industry processing cereals and potatoes into ingredients essential for hundreds of (food and non-food) products used in everyday life.We are a major user of agricultural raw materials 12% of EU maize6% of EU wheat100% of starch potatoes2,35 million hectares of arable land, .24 cos, 69 factories, located in 21 out of 27 European Union Member StatesWhat makes us stand out are the considerable investments in Research & Development that have also allowed the European starch industry to be at the forefront of innovation in the agri-business sector. The industry therefore contributes towards sustainable development goals through the production of innovative food, feed and bio-based products.
