3. The mobile phone is one of the most accessible new technologies we have in the classroom, and SMS is a very popular mobile application. Some reasons given for the huge popularity include low cost, asynchronous nature and potential for private / quiet use. Using SMS allows students to employ a familiar technology to it promotes a more active learning environment. SMS can be used for collaborative learning and communication Using SMS in the Classroom .

5. GOLDEN PROJECT Using SMS This project was developed by Gisele Grangé, Ipanema. “ Scavenger Hunt” “ The project started on September 17th and finished on October 29th. There were a total of 8 tasks as follows: task 1 - Pls brn songs w so+adj. Bfn Gisele task 2 - Pls brn songs w any food word. Bfn Gisele task 3 - Pls brn songs w a celebrity name. Tkx Gisele task 4 - find ex of pres perf in the txt and justify its use. (For this task students were given a copy of a magazine page ); task 5 - Pls brn songs about films task 6 - Pls brn ex of SMS language task 7 – Pls write a film review 4 nxt class task 8 – Pls brn titles spooky films At the end of the last task, the teacher gave prizes to the groups. The group that had the most points won the first prize, and the other groups got prizes as well for their effort and participation.”

6. Maximizing Speaking Opportunities with SMS Storytelling Students have to create a story using SMS lingo. They will send the first two lines of the story to a classmate who will then have to guess how the story develops. Later students can have 1 minute to tell their stories to the whole group.
