Futbol (soccer) in Turkey Soccer is the most followed sport in Turkey.  Newspapers’ sports pages are mostly about soccer. When there are important matches in the stadiums in the city, there are always massive traffic jams that last for hours. When the Turkish national team wins a championship, everyone gets out on the streets to celebrate.
A typical meal starts with soup, and then a hot dish with vegetables and meat (with pilav - rice).  After this, dishes made with olive oil are served.  Then comes dessert or fruit. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk(1881 - 1938) Founder of the Turkish Republic. First Turkish president. Led the Turkish National Movement after the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War 1, which lead to the Turkish War of Independence. Transformed the Ottoman Empire into a modern, democratic and secular state.
Some of Atatürk’s Reforms Gave women the right to vote and to be elected. Women became free to cover their heads or not. Law of family names. Adopted the new Turkish alphabet. ** Yes, he was awesome.
