2. Purpose
Audio material can be used:
To present a topic (content, vocabulary, organizational
patterns, motivation…)
To develop a topic (task input, comprehension,
production…)
To evaluate a topic (identification, inference,
transcription…)
3. Time
An audio class can´t take a full period.
Aspects to consider:
Lenght
Previous and posterior activities
Participation and students´ engagement.
4. Level
Avoid motivational problems and frustration.
Graduate the tasks, not the speaking pace or language
complexity.
Be aware of the different accents and their implications.
5. Quality.
It´s not only about the structure used.
It´s about the sound.
It´s about the accents and tones.
It´s about the vocabulary used
It´s about the coherence with the task.
6. Updatedness
Why do you think students will love it or not? Avoid
prejudice.
Not because you like something, your students must like
it.
Why listening to an old referent? The world moves all the
time!
