loop sorters
loop sorters consist of an endless loop of segmented carriers. after induction onto the
sorter, products circulate until they are sorted at the right destination. If this is full or
otherwise not available, the products will continue to circulate. Recirculation is therefore
achieved constantly and automatically. To increase capacity and maximise usage of the
available carriers, additional induction positions can be placed at various locations around
the loop. Loop sorters require more floor space than line sorters, but allow higher
capacities to be achieved.
line sorters
line sorters have a straightforward linear layout: products are placed on the sorter at the
beginning of the line. If not sorted they will arrive at the end of the line, where they will
leave the system. alternatively they can automatically be returned to the beginning of the
sorter to pass through the sorting process again, turning the line sorter into a loop
configuration. Line sorters have a relatively small footprint and require a low investment.
