David committed adultery with Bathsheba and had her husband Uriah killed to cover it up. He realized he had sinned greatly. In Psalm 51, David acknowledges his sins and asks God for mercy and forgiveness. He knows his sins are always before God. Though David faced consequences for his actions, rebuilding began as he authentically returned to God, and rising up from a bad fall emitted a precious scent of authentic Christianity.
