4. 1 It was so that you could live in freedom that Christ has
liberated you. You need to hold on to this freedom and
not allow yourselves to become enslaved all over
again. 2 I, Paul am saying that if you get circumcised,
Christ will be of no value to you. 3 If you start living by
that system you will need to perfectly keep all of the
laws all of the time. 4 This will cut you off from Christ.
You who seek righteousness through keeping the law
have missed out on God’s grace. 5 The life of faith
works in a very different way – when we live that way
are looking for a work of the Holy Spirit and because
we trust what God has promised we are willing to wait
for the righteousness that only comes from God. 6
When you are a believer in Christ Jesus it makes no
difference whether you are circumcised or not. What
matters is faith working itself out through love.

12. PIECES OF INFORMATION (1)
1. The real gospel produces freedom.
2. That freedom can be lost.
3. Religious rituals substitute for what Christ has
done.
4. Religious rules depend on perfect obedience to
be effective.
5. When you choose to operate by rules/culture
you get cut off from Christ
6. When you choose rules you are excluded from
the working of God’s grace.
13. PIECES OF INFORMATION (2)
7. Living by faith is different from living on the
basis of religious law/culture.
8. The goal of faith is a work of the Spirit.
9. The basis for faith is the promise of God.
10.The process of faith is to wait for what God has
promised to do.
11.The life of faith places no importance on one
religious practice or another.
12.The life of faith is made known by the love it
produces.
14. THINGS THAT MATTER
1. What has God revealed (?)
the big ticket item and the smaller ticket items?
2. If this was a description of my life what would
be different?
3. What do I need to do to exercise faith?
4. How will I be accountable?
15. THINGS THAT MATTER
What has God revealed
• There are things that I am doing that are culture
dependent, not faith/promise dependent.
• Theses things are forms of bondage, rather than being
experiences of liberty in Christ and they cut me off
from the power of God.
• I need to simply trust the promises of God and seek his
supernatural power to bring about change.
• This will be recognizable in the extra love it produces in
me.
