My Civilization: Ancient Egypt

The Research Journey:

My favorite part of the research journey was taking notes becauseit helped us to
get more knowledge of all different civilizations. My best research question was
“what were their foods?” because it contained lots of information and it helped
me to understand and study ancient Egyptians’ foods. While doing my research, I
found it difficult to find the information in the websites becauseit was mostly
unreliable and it made me to feel a little bit confused by giving many different
answers. The most interesting thing I learned about the structure of society was
that the ancient Egyptians had women Pharaohs but not only male Pharaohs!
I think that shipsare important legacy of ancient Egypt because it played an
important part in daily life, and it made the trade a lot easier in the future.

Report Writing

I am proud of my report because I did a fine job in writing it and I organized the
information and pictures very well. While writing the report, I became better at
typing, organizing and choosing information. If I wrote it again, I would improve
my report by adding some even more interesting information and making the
whole report interesting to everyone who readsit.

Archeology Presentation

I didn’t enjoy making my artifacts because the clay always broke and sometimes,
when it dried, it broke again!I found it difficult tostand in front of people and I
really was afraid to do the eye contact.I am most proud of my Ancient Egyptian
hoe artifact because even though it didn’t looked real, it was very useful. All the
people were interested in golden-colored hoe.

I enjoyed the archeology presentation because it gave me the idea ‘ How could I
do this better this time?’ Next time, I won’t read the whole thing that is on my
palm cards, but if I remember it, I will do eye contact better.’ I found it difficult to
do a eye contact with tall students & parents, talking loud enough so everyone
and anyone near me can hear my voice.

While preparing for this presentation, I became better at speaking in front of
people, researching and organizing my ideas properly.

What else?
During this unit I especially enjoyed discussing by myself, making artifacts and
organizing my speech in the middle of my brain. If I lost my palm cards, I would
be in a pickle! I took extra time to remember my speeches. After this unit, I
would like to continue to work on other civilizations, such as Ancient Maya
because it is interesting to me.
