countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in

persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices

- Its Proclamation –“He hath said in his heart, I shall
not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity”

- Its Production –“His mouth is full of cursing and
deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and

heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin” (Pro. 21:4; cf. Pro.

- Shame –“When pride cometh, then cometh shame:

- Brought Low –“A man’s pride shall bring him low:
but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit” (Pro.

- Cut Off –“The Lord shall cut off all flattering lips,
and the tongue that speaketh proud things” (Psa.
12:3; cf. Isa. 13:11; Exo. 5:2; Exo. 14:28)
- Known Afar Off –“Though the Lord be high, yet
hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he
knoweth afar off” (Psa. 138:6)
- Day of the Lord –“For the day of the Lord of hosts
shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and
upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be
brought low” (Isa. 2:12; cf. Psa. 10:14-18)

- Fear the Lord –“The fear of the Lord is to hate evil:
pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the
froward mouth, do I hate” (Pro. 8:13; cf. Ecc. 12:13;

- Humility –“Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the
proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit
yourselves therefore to God” (James 4:6-7; cf. 1 Pet.

- Examine Our Cooperation – Are we cooperating in
the things of the world or in the things of God?
