1. A2 Media Studies – G324 – Preliminary Planning – Short Film 13E
As part of your Research and Planning portfolio you will need to complete one
ancillary production task. For this you will be working in your production groups.
Attendance and completion the task is essential and compulsory. Failure to attend
lessons, or to complete the tasks set will result in having marks deducted from your
main task.
Small film sequence task
Your group task is to plan, film and edit a short (45 – 60 second) film sequence
based around the following theme: Happiness
Before you will be allowed to shoot footage you must submit the following;
• Storyboard of sequence
• Shot List
• Synopsis of short film sequence
• List of required resources (props, costumes, etc)
• List of locations
In order to complete the assessment your film sequence must include the
following key ingredients and must abide by the following rules;
● Shot entirely on school premises.
● No more than 2 actors.
● No non-diegetic music
● You must use shallow focus and pull focus at some point
● You must have 5 - 10 lines of dialogue
● You must be able to name all your shot types (close up, wide shot, dutch
angle, etc)
You should pay attention to the deadlines and schedule below so that your work is
completed in time for peer evaluation on the 08th of July.
