A second-generation American, Greta Siddiqui grew up in the small upstate New York town of Glens Falls, which sits along the Hudson River in the Adirondack Mountains. Because the primary employer in the town was the International Paper Company, many residents opted to join the firm’s workforce. Greta Siddiqui decided to take after her grandmother, parents, and aunt by becoming an educator. Though her grandparents moved to New York from Slovakia without knowing any English, they were successful in their effort to start a butcher shop in New York City.
