TNC17, its 33rd edition, was held in the UNESCO City of Media Arts of Linz, Austria between 29 May - 2 June 2017. The 30th of May, Edoardo Martinelli, CERN, gave a presentation (available below) entitled "Network experiences with Public Cloud Services" during the session "Connecting to cloud providers". This session was meant to present the current state of networking for cloud services, to lay out important challenges in the area, and to point to future work. The session was also intended to stimulate and facilitate discussion in the community. Edoardo Martinelli presented with the aim of highlight the experience of a large institution (CERN) in procuring large-scale cloud resources on behalf of a scientific community, and the results from initial deployments of such services. The presentation has given details of networking challenges, how these have been overcome, and the performance obtained. Based on these experiences, recommendations for networks in support of cloud resources have been given. The presentation was included 2017 experience from the HNsciCloud project.
