Celtic Warfare By: Ridge Harrison
There is a heavy influence based on clan combat. Celts would fight wars in an endemic manner; performing rituals and sacrifices. These rituals and sacrifices were preformed by druids. They offered the sacrifices to the goddess Morrigan to help with warfare. These rituals stayed in their culture even when Christianity came into play. Customs
They constructed fort either in the woods or in an open plain, so the warriors could see their enemies easily. They would plunder the countryside on attacks and defensively rid the citizens of the village. The Celts were also known for night attacks and stealthy missions. The Celts would do anything to die for their honor Tactics and Orginization
The Celts fought each other and sometimes allied with the Greeks or Romans. Celts were headhunters. They used these heads as trophies for their houses or tribes shrine. The tribal warfare was popular because the Celtic people wanted to see which region had the best warriors. Tribal Warfare
They eventually used sea warfare and established a powerful navy. Javelins and slingshot were overrun by crossbows and swords. Chariots had also disappeared from Ireland and adapted a Calvary. Adaptations
