Results from audience research investigation  For this research I used my Facebook page (social networking site) to send a questionnaire out to 20 people of around the age of  16-21. The purpose of this questionnaire was to gather data to use to create my target audience profile.
This question is important as it helps distinguish a age range for my audience profile, it also helps me to judge whether the age range aimed at for the research is the group who will be most interested in my music video.  From my results  you can see I  got some range asking people up to 31-39 but I mainly focused on the 16-21 age group, because they will be able to relate to the age ranges of the actors in my music video. Also when making the video, the age range who would be able to relate to the  Storyline in the video would be 16-21. Age?
The reason behind choosing a equal amount  of male and female is to get rich, reliable and valid data. It also allows for me to be able to focus at both the male and female audiences when creating my audience profile. Gender?
As my music is taken from the dance genre, it is vital to see how much of my audience listen to music in social places, as dance music is often associated with the clubs and bars. From my results, you can see that listening to music in social places and events  is high within the audience, with over 60% going to gigs, bars and clubs. This result is good news for the music video as their are a lot of ideas through Mise en scene and editing, which have lots of  stereotypical links to clubbing through drinking and DJ-ing etc. Do you go to any of the below?
From the pie chart below it is obvious that too some extent our clothes are influenced by musical taste. When asking the participants why they chose their answer, those who said no explained that it was because they thought that dress sense is individual to that person, and therefore influences come from a range of places. But most of those who said no also said that most people are influenced by music in some way and this could be expressed through clothes. Those who said yes, explained that it is normally the artists themselves who are most influential, as people want to recreate the looks created by their favourite artists. Over all, it can be seen that both the artist and the type of music themselves have some influence on the way we dress, but it is not inevitably linked. Is your dress code influenced by your musical interests ?
The track I created my music video around is in the main genre of dance electronica music and in the sub-genre of  Breakbeat/ Dubstep. 70% of the participants asked like dance music, which is really significant as it will make the audience profile created from this research highly reliable and valid.  Do you like dance electronica music?
From the results, it can be seen that dubstep, drum ‘n’ bass, and house are the top three sub genres of the target group. Helping me to uncover the main areas of electronica music that my target audience enjoy.  If yes, what are your favourite sub genre(s)?
Do you prefer urban setting music videos that involve real people? From the results uncovered by this question, It will help me to understand what type of music video the target group want. 16 out of 20 people that took the questionnaire answered yes to urban settings, showing that they enjoy to see the artists within society, rather than for instance a studio.  This is very significant as I want to portray the Britishness of the band I have chosen, and now its clear that the target audience enjoy this type of video.
If yes, do you feel it is because you can relate to the real people within the video? When watching videos, it is common that we enjoy the videos more when we can relate or aspire to be a character within the video. Whether this being consciously or sub- consciously. Results from this question shows that most people said no, this may be because we don’t live in the same situations as those explored in the video. If I was to retake this questionnaire, I would ask if you aspire to be or relate to the characters, as I think it would make people  think more deeply into what they feel when watching the videos, helping me to understand what people feel and think when watching these videos.

Animation has become a popular and artistic way of creating a music video, and it has proved to be very popular within my target group with 80% enjoying animation. Therefore, using animation within a music video would be very successful with the target audience.  Do you enjoy animation music videos?

How much did you like the song I have chosen to use? (1-5points) The song has proven to be a very successful choice with my target audience, scoring mostly 3,4 0r 5 points. Therefore I am confident that my music video will be successful  with the target audience.
