2. Introduc6on to Cake
We are experts in contemporary Java EE applica5on design; focusing in par5cular on the light‐weight
side represented by the dependency injec5on containers and AOP underpinning systems with good
object oriented design.
We are architects and authors of the Spring Framework, and much experience on deployment of
object‐rela5onal mapping tools (various implementa5ons of the JPA, plain Hibernate, iBATIS, raw
JDBC) and messaging infrastructures such as JMS, and integra5on of these systems via XML web
services or RESTful interfaces.

4. Our Partners
Members of the Cake team regularly present in the areas of exper;se at events and conferences
around the country.
• We are the founding members of the Open Source Journal, the UK’s first paper peer reviewed
journal focusing on open source technologies.
• Cake has a very ac5ve partnership with the Na5onal Compu5ng Centre (NCC). We are an Associate
company and regularly run joint Cake and NCC knowledge sharing events.
• Hays recruitment also recognise our exper5se: we are their enterprise open source sobware
development partner. Cake and Hays also regularly run knowledge sharing events.
• Finally Cake is the Skills MaUer training partner where we deliver a number of
Java and Spring courses as well as “in the brain” sessions. Cake is also one of the
main sponsors of all Skills MaUer’s events and conferences.
• Our agile exper5se has allowed us to partner with the NCC to produce their
Agile Project Management Guidelines. We have also produced a number of
agile white papers, agile mentoring case studies, regularly run agile events.

7. One‐Team® ‐ Enterprise So?ware Development
Cake’s One‐Team® services help clients fulfil their sobware vision using Cake’s experts to develop your
sobware at our offices as an outsourced service (not to be confused with off shore) or as a joint
sourced offering, working directly with your team.
Cake’s joint sourcing service allows you to draw on our sobware development exper5se and
experience to work within your team to deliver your sobware development project.
One‐Team® projects may include members of your own team and possibly those of systems and
sobware suppliers, under the leadership and guidance of Cake.
In each project, the clients will be the product owners: that is, the client is always in

of draw down days and telephone technical support as well as our unique
online peer to peer support.

9. Agile Mentoring
Enterprises oben have very different reasons for switching from tradi5onal sobware development
methodologies to modern agile methodologies. Your sobware development team may be missing
deadlines, going over budget, producing sobware that does not meet the businesses requirements,
producing buggy sobware or it may be that you simply want to improve the effec5veness of your
