IWRM: A Brief History 1974 : Creation of the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) as the coordinating and integrating body on water resources management and development. - through the workshops organized by PWP, more stakeholders learned about the NWRB and need to get water permits from it 1976 : Enactment of the Water Code of the Philippines- a law governing the ownership, appropriation, conservation and protection of water resources using holistic perspective. - PWP helped to organize workshops on updating the Implementing Rules and Regulations I. IWRM: A Brief History 2002 : World Summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg )- countries agreed to formulate and implement IWRM and water efficiency plans by 2005. - PWP organized fora and TOTs on IWRM 2004 : Medium-Term Philippine Development Plan (MTPDP) “Adoption of IWRM approach as general strategy in water resources management”. - PWP organized a workshop on water chapter 2007 : The National IWRM Plan – serves as a directional plan for mainstreaming IWRM - PWP helped to organize consultation workshops
