  1. Business owners have a complex relationship with money. It can be a huge source of stress but is also a significant motivator. When things aren’t going well, concern about cash flow and profits can create disillusionment and stress. When things are going well owners tend to be more satisfied. However, it’s also true that some owners dread the complacency that can set in when a their business is doing well. Motivation also changes in line with the life cycle of a company. Our research showed that the strength of which money is a motivator is greater for those turning over £1-2million than those with £5-50 million t/o businesses
