Time Out …… the intentional cessation of an incomplete act
Corporate Interventions
BACKGROUND:
Our external environment continues to change rapidly, with little regard for the ability of
organisations to either respond to the impact of change or keep abreast of its pressing
demands. The signal is clearly being sent that what we provided in the past is no longer
relevant. We need to repackage our offering and present products and services that
have greater value added content. Our historic standards for measuring organisation
success need to be recalibrated. Without a doubt, expected standards of product and
service delivery have been raised.
The clarion call is now out for leadership teams to reframe their use of knowledge,
attitudes and behaviours, so that of necessity they become more
Creative
Responsive
Innovative
Flexible and
Situationally Sensitive
Personal and professional development tools in their current delivery format still leave
us with individuals who have a wealth of knowledge, but appear unable to translate
workshop learnings into workspace realities. It is imperative now more than ever, that
cerebral knowledge is translated into passion driven implementation and that
expansive thinking becomes the norm in our organisations. Individuals are required to
leverage their untapped knowledge, generate new solutions and deliver at their highest
potential.
The current business environment calls for the application of radical and unorthodox
methodologies to drive change in organisations.
THE CONCEPT
The concept of the Time Out approach to corporate interventions emerged from the
reality that introspection leads to:
Clarity,
Effortless individual transformation which is the precursor to driving change in
self, teams and organisations
Unleashing of creative energies – leading to expansive thinking and the
generation of new solutions based on our innate knowledge and intuition,
Improved appreciation of diverse perspectives.

Time Out …… the intentional cessation of an incomplete act
Corporate Interventions
As leaders of teams from whom we expect sustained high performance, we rarely if
ever allow time for introspection and reflection to take place.
My practical experience is that time spent in introspection at individual and team levels,
surfaces a depth of self knowledge, learnings and solutions that our technology driven
world allows little time to be processed and digested. Time Out allows teams the
opportunity to:
Develop an innate understanding of each other that day to day activity hinders
THE TIME OUT UNIQUE VALUE PROPOSITION
Heightening Performance Productivity and Profitability
Participants in our Time Out Corporate Interventions appreciate that it:
Is highly introspective – surfacing the what do I personally need to change to
realise change in others and organisation and generating an impetus to do what
it takes
Is nonthreatening, yet provides space for authenticity and honesty
Is direct in focus and leads to rapid identification of core issues
Engages the less used right brain (creative and intuitive) , pproviding new
approaches to problem solving
Is directive without being prescriptive, allowing full ownership of action plans
Heightens Performance and Productivity leading to increased Profitability
Keys into spirituality of the organisation and its leaders

OUR APPROACH AND METHODOLOGY
We cannot solve the problems we create by the same state of minds that created them
Albert Einstein
Time Out Corporate Interventions uniquely integrate foundational principles as
articulated in the:
Fundamental concepts of Organisation Development Theory And Practice –
Action Research Model, Appreciative Inquiry
Fundamental concepts of Frameworks for Change - rapidly surfacing attitudes
and behaviours that support and impede individual, team and organisation
development and generating new solutions
The Frameworks for Change Process® (FCP) is a simple and valuable method for creatively exploring
innovative solutions to challenging situations in the workplace. This revolutionary tool allows us to work
with clients in a quick, deep, and impactful way. We use the FCP to help our clients:
Discover new strategies to solve persistent problems
Generate creative individual and group solutions
Improve team communications and collaboration
Build on individual and organizational strengths and values
Manage difficult changes and challenges
Learn ways to sustain individual and organizational performance improvement
Re-evaluate and reframe their decision making process to include their intuitive sense
Realize the benefits of personal accountability
Examine beliefs and identify values
Align individual and group values
The process rapidly identifies cognitive, behavioural, or attitudinal factors that are promoting or impeding
team progress. The method encourages individuals to communicate clearly and directly, practice active
listening skills, and develop tolerance, respect, and empathy for one another. It reinforces important
personal values and encourages teams to model them in their workplace.
The knowledge and wisdom shared by successful business leaders, respected
world leaders and recognised spiritual leaders – “in seeking something utterly new,
he really arrives at a new understanding of something ancient” Meher Baba - the
importance of regular introspection in facilitating genuine transformation, Time Out
specifically calls for the intentional cessation of an incomplete act.

THE TIME OUT PROCESS CYCLE
“… the biggest obstacle to better performance isn’t lack of knowledge. It’s failure to act on
knowledge we already have. Overcoming this obstacle requires a different method; a method built
on the premise that high performance, from the front line to the C-suite, doesn’t arrive from the
outside in but emerges from the inside out.” Alan Fine founder of InsideOut Development and author

Time Out …… the intentional cessation of an incomplete act
Corporate Interventions
The approach can be woven into standard organisation development interventions
where behavioural change and expansive thinking are seen as critical for
organisation success.
Start of major project - rapid identification of critical strengths and challenges
in individuals, team and organisation is required
Strategic Planning and its associated Organisation Transformation
Initiatives
o Change Management
o Inculcation of Core Values
o Leadership and Supervisory Development
o Team Development
o Individual Coaching
And can also be used as a stand alone process for Individual Personal and Professional
Development, where behavioural change is seen as critical for success
IS YOUR ORGANISATION “TIME OUT” READY?
We recommend that you the review of the following checklist to determine whether your
organisation is ready for this type of intervention.
1. Performance Plateau – has your high performing team plateauxed?
2. Openness and Honesty – are self awareness, feedback and authenticity
necessary for organisation success?
3. Technical Knowledge is not enough – is your team technically strong but
lacking interpersonal skills? Is behavioural change no longer optional, but rather
critical?
4. Traditional solutions no longer valid – is there a necessity to create new
solutions using same data, to stimulate expansive thinking?
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
The success of Time Out interventions is supported by:
i) Openness and commitment of participants to the process.
ii) Choice of location - these sessions are preferably held at offsite locations,
minimising ease of access and contact with the office and use of technology
during the intervention period.
iii) Post intervention inculcation of the methodologies shared into the organisation’s
culture.
iv) Scheduled sessions for impact assessment and realignment
