A homogeneous society is such a society where most of the people share the same type of cultures values
1. A homogeneous society is such a society where most of the people share the same type
of cultures values, language, ethnicity and religious system. Recent research has found
that archaic Homo sapiens evolved to anatomically modern humans in between 200,000
and 100,000 years ago, then some members of modern humans started to leave Africa
by 60,000 years ago into different parts of the world and environment made us ethnically
diverse, otherwise in the beginning of human race we all were black people. In that sense
black people are our real ancestors, our root. If you closely observe some common
behavior of humans you will find that no matter how much culturally and religions divided
we are, most of the nationals of the world share same types of human quality (bad and
good human natures) and similar types of myths found in many countries. It does not
matter if you were born in Latin American or Europe, most of us share the common social
values and think almost the same way. What made us almost think alike, of course think
alike means about some human’s nature.
According to Oxford dictionary learner’s dictionary, the meaning of heterogeneous is
something that is consisting of many kinds of things-let that something be different types
of things or people. So, by the phrase “heterogeneous society” we mean such a society
which consists of different kinds of people from various reason of the world-which is
basically a society that is ethnically heterogeneous.
Inside an ethnically heterogeneous society there might further heterogeneity in terms of
faith or belief system. For example, India is heterogeneous society in terms of religious
system because there are Indians who are following various major world religions.
Advantages of heterogeneous society
If you live in heterogeneous society you have a unique experience of learning about
different cultures
You become more tolerant to the people of the world. When you visit a new country, which
has many people living in your society, you do not feel like an alien in that new county.
You have the option to pick the best manners and attitude from the world society. Every
society is unique in some way. For example, South Asian people respect the elderly
people very much in comparison to the people of the rest of the world, while the western
people let their children to live in a separate house or location when they grow up, which
is also a good practice to help the children to take the responsibilities of their life.
Fusion music and culture can thrive in a heterogeneous society more easily than a
homogeneous society.
Disadvantage of homogeneous society
The minority group may feel that they are being discriminated which may not always be
true.
A portion of the majority group may think that their culture and languages are being
polluted by the foreign culture.
Please do not hesitate to give your feedback about the advantages and disadvantages of
a heterogeneous society.
2. Global economy
The international spread of capitalism, especially in recent decades, across national bou
ndaries and withminimal restrictions by governments. The global economy has become
hotly controversial. Critics allege thatits props, free markets and free
trade, take jobs away from well-
paid workers in the wealthy nations whilecreating sweatshops in the poor ones. Its supp
orters insist that the free movement of capital stimulatesinvestment in poor nations and
creates jobs in them. The process is also called globalization.
Economic globalization is one of the three main dimensions of globalization commonly
found in academic literature, with the two others being political globalization and cultural
globalization, as well as the general term of globalization.[1] Economic globalization refers
to the free movement of goods, capital, services, technology and information. It is the
increasing economic integration and interdependence of national, regional, and local
economies across the world through an intensification of cross-border movement of
goods, services, technologies and capital.[2] Whereas globalization is a broad set of
processes concerning multiple networks of economic, political, and cultural interchange,
contemporary economic globalization is propelled by the rapid growing significance of
information in all types of productive activities and marketization, and by developments in
science and technology.
Economic globalization primarily comprises the globalization of production, finance,
markets, technology, organizational regimes, institutions, corporations, and labour.] While
economic globalization has been expanding since the emergence of trans-national trade,
it has grown at an increased rate due to an increase in communication and technological
advances under the framework of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade and World
Trade Organization, which made countries gradually cut down trade barriers and open up
their current accounts and capital accounts.[3] This recent boom has been largely
supported by developed economies integrating with majority world through foreign direct
investment and lowering costs of doing business, the reduction of trade barriers, and in
many cases cross border migration
While globalization has radically increased incomes and economic growth in developing
countries and lowered consumer prices in developed countries, it also changes the power
balance between developing and developed countries and affects the culture of each
affected country. And the shifting location of goods production has caused many jobs to
cross borders, requiring some workers in developed countries to change careers.
3. Factors influencing Globalization are as follows:
The important factors are:
(1) Historical:
The trade routes were made over the years so that goods from one kingdom or country
moved to another. The well-known silk-route from east to west is an example of historical
factor.
(2) Economy:
The cost of goods and values to the end user determine the movement of goods and
value addition. The overall economics of a particular industry or trade is an important
factor in globalization.
(3) Resources and Markets:
The natural resources like minerals, coal, oil, gas, human resources, water, etc. make an
important contribution in globalization.
(4) Production Issues:
Utilization of built up capacities of production, sluggishness in domestic market and over
production makes a manufacturing company look outward and go global. The
development of overseas markets and manufacturing plants in autos, four wheelers and
two wheelers is a classic example.
(5) Political:
The political issues of a country make globalization channelized as per political bosses.
The regional trade understandings or agreements determine the scope of globalization.
Trading in European Union and special agreement in the erstwhile Soviet block and
SAARC are examples.
(6) Industrial Organization:
The technological development in the areas of production, product mix and firms are
helping organizations to expand their operations. The hiring of services and procurement
of sub-assemblies and components have a strong influence in the globalization process.
(7) Technologies:
The stage of technology in a particular field gives rise to import or export of products or
services from or to the country. European countries like England and Germany exported
their chemical, electrical, mechanical plants in 50s and 60s and exports high tech (then)
goods to under developed countries. Today India is exporting computer / software related
services to advanced counties like UK, USA, etc.
4. Modern World-systems theory (also known as world-systems analysis or the world-
systems perspective)[1] is a multidisciplinary, macro-scale approach to world
history and social change which emphasizes the world-system (and not nation states) as
the primary (but not exclusive) unit of social analysis.
"World-system" refers to the inter-regional and transnational division of labor, which
divides the world into core countries, semi-periphery countries, and the periphery
countries. Core countries focus on higher skill, capital-intensive production, and the rest
of the world focuses on low-skill, labor-intensive production and extraction of raw
materials. This constantly reinforces the dominance of the core countries. Nonetheless,
the system has dynamic characteristics, in part as a result of revolutions
in transport technology, and individual states can gain or lose their core (semi-periphery,
periphery) status over time.] This structure is unified by the division of labor. It is a world-
economy rooted in a capitalist economy. For a time, certain countries become the
world hegemon; during the last few centuries, as the world-system has extended
geographically and intensified economically, this status has passed from the Netherlands,
to the United Kingdom and (most recently) to the United States.
Passports and Visa are required to travel internationally.
A very common document that maybe a few had bothered to ask …how come?
In a very simple explanation. Countries would like to have a organized accounting of
people leaving and entering their territories. This is a good way of controlling who gets in
and out…Most of the reasons would be security…they want to know who you are and
when are you leaving.
Passports are another essential official document one citizen is required to have. Issued
only by a internationally recognized government of your area. Usually a Foreign Affairs,
Home Office or State Department is the typical government agency tasked to design,
develop and deploy an official document which their citizens can use to ID themselves
when applying for visas or entering another country. Passports despite looking different
in terms of design they do all share a basic internationally ratified format. Even the
numbering and codes and security features are usually adopted by all countries. This will
make it easier to understand whatever is written and be able to spot fakes. Citizens when
they apply for a passport they need to prove they are citizens of said country by birth or
acquired citizenship. Several documents are required to be issued a passport. Your
passport is not just registered in your country but also in another international database
shared only among governments.
Visas, is a type of permission which lets the owner of the passport to enter, study, work,
do business, be a diplomat or just a someone passing through. Visas have also a similar
universal format so that other countries can read and understand such visas. There are
countries like the USA, Canada, UK and several more can apply for a tourist visa upon
arrival in the country. But majority of other countries they would require several proofs of
capacity and intention to be issued a visa. This document is like you ticket to a concert,
5. and your IDs is your passport so you can buy alcohol. It works in a similar fashion but in
more secure and highly organized manner.
Passports are issued only to citizens of a country; Permanent residents are people who
can live and work in another country. Visas issued like study, travel, business etc does
gives you the same rights like a resident or a citizen. You are just allowed to engage in
activities stated by your visa.
Your ability to enter countries is determined by which passport you have. Some people
have multiple citizenships hence hey can use multiple passports legally and without
problems. Standard operating procedure is if you plan to travel extensively you need to
obtain ALL of the required visas in your country of citizenship BEFOREHAND travellers
cannot apply just anywhere. Permanent Residents may have a different passport but is
legally living and working in another country can apply for a visa if required in their country
of residence instead of travelling back to their country of citizenship.
If your visa is a student or business type…You cannot travel elsewhere just because your
current country is visa free. It is only reserved to citizens of said country and not yours
even permanent residents regardless of the number of years stay are staying will require
visas if their citizenship is different.
