Hannah houze Death at Jamestown
One Bad Beginning The ships that set of from London were stranded for three weeks off the British coast Food and supplies diminishing, the colonists began to die Finally, 104 colonists found land to settle on; a swampy peninsula But their trouble were not over. They had to build a fort to protect against the Spanish, who did not want the British settling in the New World
Jamestown Beleaguered They were attacked by the Native Algonquin Indians, by their own internal discord, and by extensive diseases New colonists and supplies were brought from England, and the new leader, John Smith, made an uneasy peace with the Natives. But he eventually went back to England The following winter served as an epic death sentence for the majority of the colonists. Only 60/500 survived The remaining colonists attempted to go home to England, but were met with Thomas West, who ordered them back to the town
