3. THEME – DOMESTIC CIRCLE AS PRISON
• The narrator is trapped in a prison-like nursery.
• It is a symbol of the narrator’s misery as a continuous reminder of her
responsibilities to keep the house clean and take care of their
children.
A number of secured windows and a

symbolize a room in the past that
was used to keep an insane person.
