        My Journey, My Way
Far Left:
                                                               Joining TMN
                                                               exhibition in
                                                               Brighton 2002,
                                                               group picture with
                                                               Expat colleagues -
                                                               from Huawei UK MD
                                                               to support engineer,
                                                               all present…

•Joined Huawei (UK) from April 2002. One of the 5 original local employees;
•2003-2004: TAC Manager. Helped built up TAC platform and support
operations for EU wide projects;
•2004-2006: Fixed Network Support Product Manager. Supported Tiscali LLU
roll out, managed team of 8;
•2005-2006: Deputy Operations Director. Departmental headcounts over 50
WITH HARD WORK, COMES REWARDS
…A lot of ‘No.1 / First time’ experiences:
•First local TAC/TAC Manager in Huawei EU
•First NGN commercial deployment outside China - Eescape (implementation and project control)
•First BT UK-ISUP ‘BlueStamp’ for an NGN vender (testing support)
•First EU Carrier Core Router breakthrough – Fibernet (design and implementation)
•First enterprise distributor – SPOT Distribution (training and pre/post sales support)
•First local Technical Support Product Manager
 ….
A CHANGE OF PLAN
After enjoying interactions with customers, I
decided to move to sales related positions in
2006:
A bold move from Deputy Ops Director to a
junior Presales Product Manager

Again with hard work and perseverance
•2006: Head of Fixed Line Product Presales (with
team of 6 achieved over $60m)
•2007 – 2008: Deputy Product Presales Director
(exposures to all UK major accounts)
•2008 – 2011: Chief Solution Architect (achieved
over $55m on one single major account)
•2011- now: Account Manager for TalkTalk Key
Account (delivering results albeit tough
economic environment and greatly improved
organisation relationships)

And rewards / recognitions keep piling in…
•EU Excellent Staff Award 2006 (left)
•Global Excellent Staff Award (Product Manager) 2009 ( top middle, 15 grams pure
gold…)
•European Dedication Award 2011 ( bottom middle & right, again 15 grams pure gold…)
Other exposures/prides:
•One of three Employee Referrals on Huawei EU 10 Years Celebration (website and brochures)
Other exposures/prides (cont.):
Story of my ten years dedication had
been published in internal corporate
news paper ‘Huawei People’ (Chinese
version)
Other exposures/prides (cont.):
After trained as product line spokesperson by Fleishman Hillard (PR Agency) in 2007,
Interviewed by iTV Thames Valley News on the eve of 2008 Olympics to talk about
China connections (aired 06/08/2008 on evening news)
Other exposures/prides (cont.):

In 2009 (as Chief Solution Architect),
created the idea and convinced R&D
(against internal pressures) to change
product design architecture to provide
HomeSafe parental control solution to
TalkTalk.

Launched formally in May 2011 and
TalkTalk received industrial
recognition for their HomeSafe services
in 2012
OVER THE YEARS IT HAD
BEEN PUSHING ME:
Recognize that every out-front manoeuvre you make is going
to be lonely and a little bit frightening.
If you feel entirely comfortable, then you’re not far enough
ahead to do any good.
That warm sense of everything going well is usually the body
temperature at the centre of the herd.
-Steven Shepard, IMS Crash Course.

You need to continuously pushing the boundary
- Neil McArthur, TalkTalk Group
