6. A leading North American provider of water, hygiene and
energy technologies and services to the food, energy, health-
care, industrial and hospitality markets.
Challenge
The client was dealing with an unsuccessful IoT rollout and a
duplication of effort and cost due to different business units
experimenting with their own connected solutions. The need
of the hour was to create an innovative platform leveraging IoT
technologies to deliver better value to the client’s end customers
and increase operational efficiency.
Benefits
We were able to help the client in achieving a significant reduction in
maintenance costs by creating a common IoT platform.
Happiest Minds worked with the Chief Innovation Officer to create
and rollout an IoT blueprint that included the following:
• Assessment report of all the needs from various business units
and recommendations on common IOT infrastructure including
hardware, embedded software and application software.
• Implementation and roll out of the Azure IoT platform.
• Implementation of few IoT use cases for monitoring using
LoRa/BLE based sensor connectivity solution for asset monitoring.
• Creation of anomaly detection framework for preventive maintenance.
• Enhancing the experience with mobile application development
including UX and UI.

manufacturer for the retail and commercial
fueling industry.

The existing connectivity was wired in the forecourt and was
costly and time consuming for deployment purposes. In addition
only certain set of data could be collected and not everything was
sent to the cloud.
Solution
• Created an Azure IOT based platform for predictive maintenance
of the fuel dispensing units and for accounting of the fuel dispensed.
• Developed a solution to manage advertising content that provides
context specific offers.
• Designed and built services to share the data to external
applications and systems.
Benefits
We helped the client in providing greater visibility to oil companies
about fuel dispensation leading to optimized scheduling of fuel delivery.
We also engineered the move from scheduled to predictive maintenance
and enabled the client in achieving scalability and improved performance.

Solution
• Happiest Minds created a new platform from scratch using open source
technologies to reduce costs and scale the business to new farms in
Europe and US.
• We were able to develop a monitoring system for renewable energy
by aggregating data from wind turbines, solar panels or hydro plants.
This was a multi-tenanted system to cater to the needs of different
customers owning multiple farms.
• The acquisition of data from wind turbines and solar panels was done by
a DAC system that hosts instances of the client services (OPC DA, OPC
XML DA, MODBUS, PI and RDBMS Client) for subscribing to tags data
from servers.
• We provided deployment and managed services to ensure that the platform
uptime met the SLAs committed by the client to different farm owners.

The client had a platform to manage their own farms and was looking to
diversify their portfolio by managing other farms. However, the client was
looking to change the platform as the cost of components were high and
there wasn’t uniformity in the interfaces exposed by various farms.

Benefits
We enabled the client in achieving a lower product-cost, single board data
acquisition system, which meets the process control requirements of a
wide variety of their machines, thus reducing inventory and
protecting their IP.
Process Control System Design

Challenge
The client was using a commercially available process control system that
was excessive for their needs, was financially prohibitive and posed a
threat of a potential IP leak. They were also plagued with high inventory
for process control components as each machine required different
hardware building blocks.
Solution
• Happiest Minds designed and developed a Data Acquisition system to cater to
a wide variety of industrial machines.
• We standardized the Data Acquisition system by providing end to end services
for design, build, test , prototyping and manufacturability of process control
systems by leveraging ARM Cortex A9 core based TI Sitara processor
(AM4379), 8Gbit DDR3 SDRAM, 512Mbit NOR flash, 24 digital inputs/24
digital outputs, 8 channel differential Analog inputs/outputs and PWM based
motor control outputs.
• The solution was powered by 24V field supply and included features for data
logging, remote diagnostics, GPRS modules for cloud connectivity along with
local connectivity using EtherCAT Master/Slave interfaces.
• Design also included an Artix 7 FPGA (XC7A100T) based PID controller and
data acquisition module along with HMI communication over the Ethernet.

The ISP was facing challenges with efficient provisioning of new
access network devices from different vendors by unskilled personnel.

• We developed a centralized system for provisioning of new devices
into the access network of the ISP thus removing the need for
manual provisioning.
• Automated provisioning of the devices in the field based on network
topology and location.
• Provided for a scalable solution that is agnostic of vendors and
devices while being primed to maintain hierarchy.
• An innovative field service mobile app to allow service engineers
to be connected for installation, provisioning and repairs.

Solution
• Happiest Minds provided a solution that combined the information
generated from employees access cards and energy meters to
intelligently monitor occupancy levels. The solution displayed energy
consumption trends with daily, weekly and monthly comparisons.
• Designed hardware and embedded software to make the switches
smart so that they can be monitored and controlled remotely using
BLE, WiFi or PLC.
• Designed an app for identifying the position of a person within a
building and helping in navigating to a target destination within
the premises.

We enabled the client in achieving a lower carbon footprint and green
buildings by instituting a mechanism that allowed building administrators
to compete against each other ensuring maximum energy savings.

automation services to its subscriber base of more than 3 million
home users in the European region.

Helped the client in building the required infrastructure to provide a
host of value added services to tap into Europe’s quickly growing
