Along with the increasing requirements for shelf life, fresh keeping, barrier property,
aluminum foil are widely used in the foil structure for packaging pouches, and they are
usually called aluminum foil pouch.
Sometimes, the products will not be consumed in one time, so the pouch needs to be re-
sealable, so a zipper-lock is usually applied into the aluminum foil pouches.
This aluminum foil zipper-lock pouch is intended to pack 300-500g of products,
depending on the density for the packed products. It can be well suited to pack sauce,
flavorings, powders, etc, all these products are not able to be consumed just in one time,
and the aluminum foil will help extend the shelf life for the packed products as long as
possible, as aluminum foil owns the best great barrier property of all the packaging film
materials applied in flexible packaging, will discuss in details afterward.

First, let’s have a look at the graphic for this aluminum foil zipper-lock pouch.
Please note, there are different types for the zipper-lock, however the most common used
item is the single track zipperlock shown as below.

Above graphic shows the structure for the aluminum foil pouch, and it comes to function
as below.
1) PET film, short for polyester film, that serves as outside printing substrate and protection
layer for aluminum foil. Of course, there is no printing artwork for this aluminum foil
pouch, and will show a printed pouch item in the afterwards.
2) Aluminum foil, serves as barrier layer and middle bulk layer for the pouch.
3) LDPE film, short for low density polyethylene film, that serves as inner seal layer for this
pouch.
Of course, the barrier property for this aluminum foil pouch is depending on the aluminum
foil, as below.
Aluminum foil occupied the top barrier film during all the film materials in flexible packaging,
with OTR (Oxygen Transmission Rate) and WVTR (Water Vapor Transmission Rate)

Perhaps you are not familiar with all the film materials, any questions regarding the film
materials, you may reach us for advices.
Please note, these three layers: PET film/Aluminum foil/LDPE film have to be well laminated
into integrated item, and then this laminated foil can be further processed into pouches.
There are usually three methods for this lamination, solvent lamination, solvent-free
lamination and extrusion coating lamination. Selection for the lamination method has to be
depending on the final requirement for the foil pouch application.

And then this lamination foil is uploaded onto bag-making machine and converted into
aluminum foil pouches.
Zipper-lock is trapped into the pouch on the bag-making machine, you will have a close
look.
