2. There aren’t many professions found in texts but we know
there were miners, scribes, stone workshops, people who
worked in quarries and a doctor, Philoumeno the Greek.
I’m going to show you some of the tools used in Segobriga,
found in this archeological site.
4. -Plate made of clay
- Knife made of metal with the handle from bones
5. Vessels made of clay and translucent glass
called lapis specularis
6. Work tools
There was a big metallurgical activity in the city. It
produced tools for agriculture, cattle raising and
mining industry.
But we can’t forget about things
as keys, nails and other dairy tools.
7. But working in quarries
was probably the most
important work.
Don’t forget capitals
and molding for
buildings in the city.
There also were another
type of craftmen who
made tools for mine
workings.
8. Coins
Coin was the instrument for trade. Segobriga had got its own
place to mint coins called ceca, in which there were minted
five series of bronze coins.
Segobriga could mint around a million coins.
