Slideshow Creation: Twitter Harrison Garner MK 375
History of Twitter Established in March of 2006 Founded by Jack Dorsey
Layout of Twitter Twitter is an online social networking that allows people to post their thoughts or anything they want whether its pictures, videos, or text.It works mostly as a micro blog which resembles that of a text message Each post that someone makes on twitter is called a “tweet”. A “tweet” can consist of 140 characters which is short so most people have to paraphrase what they say.
Interesting facts about Twitter In early 2011, twitter reached 200 million users In 2010, the average number of tweets in just one day was around 65 million which is equivalent to 750 tweets per second
Facts continued Twitter is ranked as one of the top ten most visited websites by Alexa’s web traffic analysis. On average, twitter also gets around 750,000 visitors per day that do not already have an account with twitter.
Twitter, Inc. The Twitter, Inc. is based out of San Francisco, California. Twitter, Inc. also has offices in Boston, New York City, and San Antonio, Texas.
Marketing Advantages With all of the facts of the previous slides, it is obvious twitter gets the attention of millions of people all over the world. With this in mind, companies can use twitter as a tool to advertise their products to the twitter world and could potentially gain lots of customers by simply making your brand or company known to people through twitter. Companies can also use twitter to see how people feel about their brand or company by simply asking questions or just sit back and pay attention to what people say or how they feel about certain things.
Advantages continued Another way companies can use twitter to their advantage is by seeing what people are tweeting, they can develop a target market and solely focus on marketing their products to those people. One marketing tool that’s becoming very popular is companies are tweeting about discounts and sales they are having which I am sure gets peoples attention. For example, when Alabama outdoors announced they were having a sale, I went to their store and bought a couple items so that’s proof that this strategy works.
Marketing Disadvantages The only major disadvantage to marketing on twitter that I have noticed is that so many companies have started marketing their products on the site that it would be a challenge to compete with all the other companies that are all doing the same thing.
Conclusion Overall, I have really enjoyed my experience with Twitter and I believe it is crucial that companies, if they haven’t already, to start marketing their products on social networking sites such as twitter and facebook which seem to be the most popular ones. As each year passes, more and more people are starting to pay more attention to social media and are starting to lose their attraction to simple advertising such as commercials and newspapers. So with all this being said, marketing your products on social networking sites and social media is they key to making your brand or company successful and popular.
